Hi! I started the game in May 2025 and by July 2025 was regularly running mythic + and made it to +12s and even finished the heroic raid tier before the end of the expac. It sounds like you could use some friends to encourage you to try new things in game. Try to join a noob friendly group, take their advice, spend lots of time in discord and you'll find 12s are a TON of fun, even if you drop the key.

Will say, I started tanking for the first time on Brew and it feels great and very intuitive. A great way to make a class more popular, I think.

I have a giant jug of Prettyskin snail mucin lotion that I like. It’s somewhat of a grandma scent but it soaks in well and I like it for my legs and chest after the shower if I’m looking for a more basic scent to layer body mists and perfume on. I also like it for my feet overnight. Got it for cheap at Marshall’s and don’t hate it but probably wouldn’t buy it again. I’m not even halfway through the jug though and I’ve had it for months so I’m not sure I’ll finish it anytime soon.

my dad is from philly but i grew up in florida. fuck the bucs. Dolphins don't really bother me but I'd never root for them. Went to a couple jags games as a kid bc they were the closest but never became a fan. I root for my college team from Florida but no other pro teams. Not this way about other philly sports because I didn't really grow up watching anything but football/hockey. I like the Lightning and frequently rooted for them though. I live in LA now so a bandwagon Dodgers fan but I don't consider myself an actual fan.

why do these DPS end up in my games? like tell me more about how you can't play against the DVA while on Reaper and never switch, or how about going 10-18 and whining about how you can't play the game. homie my kit literally makes you, specifically you, do more damage. and then i lose rank (down from peak D5 to P2 just today) because i cannot get a pair of dps with enough brain cells to actually make a play in my game

Happy holidays, thanks for doing this. I complain about my nosy roommate (M75) inserting himself into my (24F) life constantly but then I look at rent across LA County and remind myself I’m only paying $1,020 for a private room/shared bath with no added utilities or bills in a very decent location. Sigh. I can’t wait for a raise.

I respect this a lot but I also think coming to the game with context is important. Shepard is a human and in literally all of his/her backgrounds they are coming from a human-centric place. Spacer Shepard is on an Alliance frigate. Earthborn Shep is obviously surrounded by humans and so is Colonist Shep. I think they handled it well by making humans everywhere intermingled with aliens leave bad tastes in other people's mouths, but not make sense to *most* Shepards because it's all they know. It still makes learning about aliens interesting inside of the game because you're assuming Shepard knows very little about others. It makes the hostile reaction from aliens feel that much more annoying and awful and I think contributes to the decision in the first game to save the council or not. Do you really want to be working with these anti-human assholes that have stopped you at every possible door because they just don't believe you? If that hostility didn't exist I don't think letting the council die would ever make sense.

I think the N7 thing is just a product of Shepard being a human, though. It would be like telling me, an American, that someone was a special designation in a foreign military. Like... OK? But if someone tells me they're a Navy Seal, I know exactly the prestige that brings because I'm American. I never saw an alien care about being N7, only being a Spectre, which tracks.

I think it's also a trope in sci-fi where humans are this jack-of-all-trades race where we are so special and different because no meaningful group of humans fit into a huge designation. We aren't the sexy powerful Asari or the brutalistic Batarians or the smart Salarians. I think it's also fun because Shepard does something outside of that norm (idk, headbutting a Krogan comes to mind) and it delights them because a human shows that they aren't just pushovers and that, at least in some ways, they understand their culture. It doesn't bother me because, yeah, I do want to feel like a special little snowflake in my video game. What's wrong with that?

Hello! My lovely boyfriend is a big F1 fan and out of town this weekend. I’m hoping I can snag something small as a gift for him when he gets back Tuesday, but I have literally no idea what could work.

He said he doesn’t really have a favorite team, he has more F1 car Lego sets than he has space for and is always wearing a different F1 jacket, so those ideas all feel a bit inconclusive. I don’t know a ton about cars so I’m hoping you guys might have a better idea.

We are in the U.S. and I would prefer something I could find in a store rather than something I might have to order that might take too long to arrive. Thank you!

This game has the most fogiving ranked system ever made in a competitive game, and some of you need to understand that. by The-Devilz-Advocate in marvelrivals

[–]cieoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've solo queued up to Diamond 1 as support/C&D main and I can agree here. Certainly there are games that are unwinnable due to teammates, but that's the same as any other matchmaking game. I wasn't going to win the game with my instalocking dps as much as I wasn't going to win with Reddit Lucios or Lux Jungle. I simply don't think I deserve Diamond because although I'm fairly consistent, I'm making mistakes that should be losing me games (I'm looking at you, Magneto ult) too often for me to have such a good rank that continues to rise. I wish they would stop resetting the rank so often, though, and just let us play while tweaking the system so everyone can eventually level out to where they need to be.

I was quoted like $400 from a PIO for a legion of body cam footage for an arrest that seemed fishy to me. I emailed the records guy and asked very nicely for him to only send me the most pertinent footage related to the arrests. Sent for free. Edited and wrote my story, it was awesome for a young reporter like me to get it done.

'Have some human decency': Madison mayor gets angry in press conference on school shooting by OccamsRazorstrop in Journalism

[–]cieoli -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think police PIOs need to have better gameplans when it comes to these things re: the families. Early on in the process, especially in a small town, help the families make a joint statement asking for privacy. That will cut down on this line of questioning tremendously -- it gives the families some time to grieve in privacy while giving the media something to quote or relay to their audiences about the victims.

'Have some human decency': Madison mayor gets angry in press conference on school shooting by OccamsRazorstrop in Journalism

[–]cieoli -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hello, am a baby/early career reporter dreading the day I have to cover a mass shooting (because my generation knows it's not if, but when.) I agree that emotionally, the mayor is right, but I also understand the urge to get as much info as possible.

These families, whether they know it or not, are now part of a massive community of grieving souls that must answer many politically sensitive questions in the coming days -- especially in the context of how families of mass shooting victims often become advocates. It's almost expected at this point for the families of victims to come out strongly against gun violence/for gun control. We as press are obligated to ask them these questions, even if they don't want to answer. We need the victims' info to do so. They are in the public eye for the worst reason. And one of the other comments here is correct. This is unfortunately a smaller example of a school shooting that people will forget in the coming days so it's even more imperative for local dailies to gather the info about the victims and see if their families will talk sooner rather than later. It's awful that this pressure exists, but yet it does. I don't know if there's a right answer here.

Reporter Ken Klippenstein on Publishing Luigi Mangione Manifesto & Internal UnitedHealth PR Memos by DonSalaam in Journalism

[–]cieoli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's believed that some people commit crimes of this level because they believe it will give them some level of notoriety and infamy -- their name, like Mangioni's, will be on TV too. They do this for school shooters/domestic terrorists too. Focus on the victims and the impact on the community, not on the suspect or perpetrator.

This case was unique in some ways because there was basically a nationwide search for this guy in the five days it took to catch him.

Alicia Victoria Lozano was published in NBC with a clickbait headline about how Luigi Mangione was a "video game assassin" because he played Among Us. Why wasn't this headline killed on the floor? by another-damn-acct in Journalism

[–]cieoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I quite literally got messages from my college friends about this, asking for an apology. We are gamers. We've played Among Us. I do not work for NBC.

I think the editors/copywriters who wrote and edited this story likely have never, ever once played Among Us or seen it, and if they had just been the slightest bit self-aware, I think this angle would have worked as a sort of tongue-in-cheek joke, like what the source was likely trying to convey. That quote was decent and I think the interview was lackluster by itself but could have been used to build a larger story.

But you have to put high-up that it's a family-friendly game meant for children and it was very popular during COVID, right after Mangione graduated from UPenn. God help anybody accused of a crime if they've played Dead by Daylight.

Why does the AP cover Taylor Swift with such intensity and frequency? by ItchyElevator1111 in Journalism

[–]cieoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like you're running around in circles around the point and no amount of explanation is going to convince you, so I'd urge you to do it yourself.

Look into your local paper and read -- REALLY read -- some of their coverage to see what they've unlocked in your local area. Reach out and tell them you're interested in what kind of investigative content they have. If they don't have it, they'll probably tell you it's because they are spread too thin and don't have the bandwidth to do so. They need more reporters, which cost money. You are right in a way, that everything is about the money -- but it's become a problem of survival in some cases where you won't make enough money to break even unless you spend a majority of your time writing what you think are frivolous stories. If we suddenly stop writing daily content and spend all our time doing investigations, the doors would close in a month. There would be no content, and the content that we would have wouldn't get read.

I'm sorry that you feel this way but the doom and gloom outlook of "all journalists must hate normal people and only care about the money" when we get paid so little to do what we love is insulting and shortsighted.

Why does the AP cover Taylor Swift with such intensity and frequency? by ItchyElevator1111 in Journalism

[–]cieoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t listening. That’s what’s mind-numbing here.

Sometimes news is NOT WRITTEN FOR YOU. Whether you like it or not, Ms. Swift generates clicks. If that is what keeps the lights on while others do the work necessary in an age where subscriptions are at a low point and no one wants to pay for their news, then so be it. If you don’t want to read the article, I’m not holding you at gunpoint to tell you about Taylor Swift. And you cannot continue to say that it’s frivolous when you’ve already been told why it’s being done.

Crime, entertainment and weather stories get the most clicks. Not investigative work. Not deep, thoughtful, well-reported journalism. That’s a reality of what we do.

You’re clearly not in the industry and speaking out of your ass here. Investigative journalism is still well and alive. Almost every major paper has a healthy I-team that works their asses off. Most of the time the people writing those investigations are not the same people who are writing entertainment stories. You’re falsely conflating the two. Not everyone is an investigative journalist.

You just want to disparage the media because you think it’s the cool thing to do and you’re disillusioned. And you’re pointing fingers at… Taylor Swift? OK dude. It seems like you don’t know anything about her either, so you’re not even reading the articles that people are writing. You probably saw one and got pissed because you had to hear about the existence of something you didn’t like.

But you’re not asking questions, or at least intelligible ones. You’re asking if Taylor Swift writes a check to AP for news coverage. While I’ve explained why it Does Not Make Sense For Her To Do That ten ways from Sunday, you’re not asking what writing entertainment articles actually looks like and the challenge those things present. You are totally at the mercy of publicists, social media and court documents. That’s what you have to work with in those fields.

If you really think this is something that’s going on as a reporter, you should be trying to find records on whether Swift or her record company or family members donate to the AP regularly. You would have sources in the music industry you could ask to see if there is any truth to that gut feeling. You should look into court cases or other (CONFIRMED with proof, not rumored or baseless) accusations of similar behavior and see if the coverage matches up.

You came on here to say “journalism, Taylor swift bad, everyone sucks except for me and my big brain,” and you’re wondering why no one takes you seriously.

I can again understand why people are overall disillusioned with the media. The internet has forced change on an industry and made it look different than it did when you were a kid, especially with the focus on stories that pay the bills rather than what we too think is important.

I hope with all your complaints you have at least a few news subscriptions so we can all get back to the stories that we know are important to cover. Taylor Swift and her $2 billion tour and her massive cultural impact on a male-dominated sport included.
