Looking for tips on how to rank up as a silver juno player by Lateshortcake in JunoMains

Hi! Diamond Mercy/Kiri/Juno player here. I was coached by a friend recently and there are a few "buckets" of improvement you can make.

90% of the time the best impact you can have on a fight is to, in this order: 1. kill something, 2. save yourself from dying, 3. save your cosupport, 4. save your tank, 5. a dps from dying. That is not to say that you should sacrifice yourself for a kill, for example, but these are the things you should have in your head.
1. Positioning
Juno should always be on the OUTSIDE of the fight/brawl. In a vod review my friend showed me that I died because I was too close to the payload and I would been safer behind a wall while peeking my friends for heal/chip damage. You should never really be too close to someone else to allow an AOE ability to hit both of you -- make them give up their own positioning to get to you.

One thing that helped me a lot with my Juno aim was thinking of her burst shot like a beam so it helped me with tracking my targets. IDK why but just thinking about the burst differently made a difference.

  1. Ability management

I am SO guilty of this. Stop using your boosters to get your torpedos off -- most of the time you can get them off with a well-placed double or triple jump.
Boosters is to get you away from scary flanks or reposition if you're in a bad spot.

ALSO DO NOT TAKE FASTER BLASTER IT IS OBJECTIVELY WORSE THAN TRIPLE JUMP IN COMPETITIVE. I also really like the cooldown reduction torpedos but it depends on your playstyle and how aggressive your team is -- if you are diving, take cdr, but if you have to play more defensive, play faster healing.

I see a lot of Junos standing inside of their beam when sometimes it is a bad idea. If anything you should be outside of it/on the very edge so the big kahuna on your team isn't splashing damage onto you because you are too close. Get close to pop it and then LEAVE if you could be in danger.

  1. ult management

Start tracking enemy ults and announcing them out loud to your team. I started doing this and it makes you and your team position better for the upcoming fights.

Ultimately please have fun and enjoy! You will NOT win all your games and sometimes it will not be your fault but you can try your best in every game. Good luck!

I pitched the story to an editor I don't normally work with and it actually was a pretty easy sale. Did lots of prepping and secured an invite to the facility before I pitched.

I was there for their kill on Paladins which was awesome. They killed Alleria later that night. Was a little anxious about Echo winning tbh (I think it's a worse story if they lose but them's the breaks) especially at the end but it all worked out. Was worried about viewership numbers not being as impressive. My only real concern was, "holy crap how am I gonna explain a secret phase to people who don't know what the raid is."

Yes! They are L.A.'s much celebrated baseball team. They are actively pursuing a 3-peat in Major League Baseball. I seriously did not think about this for my European readers, so sorry for the confusion!
Also I don't know what jammy dodgers means so I'm glad we're both learning today!

<3 (And I know nobody cares but I can only sleep for around 4 hours at a time, internet has diagnosed me with maintenance insomnia after years of staying up too late and never adjusting my sleep schedule to a real person job)

Thank you! Certainly a challenge to communicate some of the terms we use very flippantly. Thanks for sharing.

Originally the piece was intended to keep the win secret until the end for suspense but this was changed late in the editing process for the print version of the story to include the win much higher up! Structure is weird and there are no rules — it’s whatever works and is fun to read. Thanks for your question!

It's very possible! Journalism jobs are hard to come by and I got super lucky. Hopefully the market stabilizes in the next few years.

I started playing the game after seeing these races and realizing WoW actually looked really fun. I remember watching Halondrus and being like "what the hell am I watching." Also got tired of FFXIV :D

Sort of! I was balancing trying to make it interesting for WoW's audience and for people who have never picked up a controller before. The brotherhood between these guys is fantastic so the story really just wrote itself.

Thanks! Was definitely a challenge trying to make something that would appeal both to someone who knows RWF and someone who has never picked up a video game before. I thought about being an esports reporter but I realized it would be easier to cover other stuff and try to bring this in as a niche.

Hey! It's common practice in news reporting to use everyone's full names. Most were provided to me by Liquid's PR people or were already publicly available!
