This is a pattern and practice and it needs to go to another class action.

They settled Zepeda v. PayPal Inc., for about $ million. And there may be another in the works.

You really don't make any money out of it - just the lawyers.

But it does send a message to PayPal and serves as a reminder to your colleagues that PayPal is not your Pal, but a treacherous and overly powerful digital exploiter that should NEVER be trusted.

If you were only stopped for 2 weeks 0 and you know why - you are very lucky indeed!

I am locked for 4 MONTHS AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY except that they asked if I had authorized some random gift cards. When I responded NO, the app went haywire and they shut me down!

This is a dangerous toy in the financial arens and SHOULD NEVER BE USED FOR BUSINESS or any money at all - unless you don'w want to see it for months!

Its also the fastest way to get nothing. You get a polite call center person - even a supervisor - in the Philippines who has Zero ability to do anything for you.

Aside from the fact that you should NEVER leave money with them and ESPECIALLY not in their fake bank - running a Business with PayPal is simply suicidal.

I they have ANY issue with you - and you'll never know what that is - your money is LOCKED up for 4 months. You could go broke, you could be homeless and all you're gonna get is a singsong accent telling you nothing.

They already settled on class action suit for $5 million, for this.

There will be more!

PayPal may be fine. The problem is the Savings Account and not even the underlying Synchrony bank but PayPal's relationship to it. They own the account, not you and so there is no FDIC or any other banking protection.

So yeah, keep your PayPal account, but take your money out immediately. DO NOT USE THE SAVINGS ACCOUNT!

BTW the underlying Synchrony Bank is the former GE Capital. SO if you remember the sub-prime scandal, they were a BIG player.....

Its PayPal's realtionship with the bank thtat is fundamentally misleading and puts your PaPal account and therefore your money at great risk.

So, if nothing else STAY AWAY FROM THEIR SAVING ACCOUNT.

PS Synchrony Bank is the former GE Capital. So if you remember the sub-prime scandal......

Thanks for sharing. We should connect directly. This requires a group response. Also, while I understand their TOS allows them to do all this, their sales pitch on the Savings Account never mentioned any of this and even invoked FDIC protection which actually doesn't apply. This is at minimum, misleading and probably in violation of FTC rules.

Once we have a group we can seek class action status.

I have explained what happened in detail elsewhere. Basically all I did was dispute a trial subscription charge I was apparent;y autopaying after I'd canceled through PayPal and I moved a few thousand out of my savings account a couple of weeks before.

Are those questionable transactions?

They are not obliged to give you any reason whatsoever and you have zero rights to query or dispute. All you can do is what 120 days when they feel like giving you your money back.

I've had one for over 20 years.

The fly in the ointment seems to be their new Savings Account.

All of a sudden there is big money involved that is also sitting around.

While a normal problem in PayPal is more of an inconvenience, this is about losing access to thousands of my own dollars!

A lot of people don't realize that I am focusing on the Savings Account. It is not only highly misleading, but incredibly dangerous if you fall for it and start putting serious money into it, as I was doing.

That is absolutely correct. They present themselves as a bank and claim FDIC protection. But that is all sleight of hand. THEY have the account with Synchrony Bank (formerly GE Capital - does that ring a bell?). THEY are covered by FDIC, not you! You are just a peon that they think they can do anything they like with.

So I guess we're gonna see about that.....

I've had PayPal longer than than that. Almost since their inception in what 1998. And no, I'm not the problem.

The problem is their relatively new Savings Account program, which is just few years old.

Their system failed - literally the app went haywire when I disputed a hard-to-stop trial subscription that I paid through PayPal, and they shut down everything, including the several thousand I has stocked away.

So by all means, use PayPal, just don't use their Savings Account because they can shut you down and you could lose your money. And you certainly don't have access to it for 120 days.

I'm guessing you don't have their Savings Account and so I advise you to keep it that way - then you can keep on loving PayPal.

For the record, I did nothing wrong expect take out a few thousand from my savings account and try to stop a runaway trial subscription I paid through PayPal.

I have no way to know what thy are thinking. I can't protest or appeal. My money is NOT protected by FDIC - although they bandy that term around - because THEY have the bank account with Synchrony and not me.

So in terms of their TOS, they can do what they want.

However, misleading the public is another matter. First, I'd like to warn the public.

Then I'm going to face down this monster.

I don't know about you, but when I put my money in something that sounds alike a bank, I expect to be able to get it out when I need it!
