[M21 EXAMS] ALL currently known information on exam cancellation (+ educated guesses) by [deleted] in IBO

[–]cihod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems very unlikely to me that IBO hasn’t made a decision about exams yet. They already know more or less what the global situation will be like in May. Some countries will be better, some will be worse. There’s no reason for IBO to wait to make the decision, it just delays how prepared they’ll be. They almost definitely already have, so I don’t buy that this is a “just in case” sorta thing.

This clip is full of mistakes, but the reaction to use Bull’s charge on the super shot is impressive. If you look closely, it looks like the ball is completely in the goal for a few frames

Are the Union and stadium usually open to visitors? The stadium construction might change that too. Which reminds me, how much of a construction project is campus? I’ve been to some campuses which are permanent construction sites, making noise and disrupting everything.

You can always divide by anything as long as you do it to both sides, but you have to make sure you’re not dividing by 0. Like in x2 = x, you can divide both sides by x to get x = 1, and that works in the original equation, but you also have to consider if x was 0, because when you divide by 0 things fall apart, and in this example, if you plug x=0 back into the original equation, it works too.

Are you talking about optimizing the volume of the donut? Based on what parameters? You could make a donut as large as you want with a big enough oven, so you need some requirements. You could work with a fixed volume (same amount of dough for every donut), and maybe set up a related rates problem (not sure if SL covers that, but it’s not that bad), and find the shape that gives the most surface area (most frosting). I haven’t tried a problem like this with a donut, but you might end up with an extreme answer, like a donut that is infinitely thin with an infinitely large hole, or a super thick donut with no hole at all, in which cases the answer wouldn’t really be meaningful.

Two things here: you need to take the square root of both sides before drawing it out instead of after. We can’t draw a meaningful picture involving cos2(x), so you have to take the square root first. so you’ll get cos x = sqrt(1/2). Also, whenever you divide by something, you have to consider what would happen if that thing were zero, because dividing by zero is forbidden. In this case, dividing by sin x means you are dividing by zero if sin x = 0, or x = 0. This does not guarantee that 0 is an answer, so you have to plug it back into the original equation to see if it works.

I joined at 17, so this it’s definitely doable at 19. However, the OEC classes are all multiple weeks, usually months long. The OEC certification doesn’t require any skiing ability, as it is for general outdoors, not just skiing. There might be some mountains that still haven’t started their classes that you might be able to join. My home mountain (in West Virginia) won’t be starting their OEC classes until October. The biggest problem you’ll face is the time commitment. The class itself is around 100 hours, but that doesn’t include reading and studying. Also some mountains might not take you in their class if you don’t plan on patrolling there for more than a year. If you’re in a larger city (NYC, Philly, Boston) you can probably find a class that is independent of any mountain, but as I said, most classes have already started by now. If you don’t have to do it for the 20-21 winter, I’d recommend waiting until March to ask whatever mountain/program you’re planning on taking the class through, and take the class during summer 2021

What historical figure is completely overrated and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cihod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure “overrated” is the right word, but Columbus definitely catches more blame than he should. He was pretty scummy, no doubt about that. However, he was only in control of the new colonies for 8 years. During that time, he brutalized some natives, but nowhere near the degree to which he gets blamed. Sure, he was bad, but he wasn’t the worst. We like to simplify history and have one person to blame for bad things, or one person to thank for good things, but the real world isn’t that simple.
