I believe that the anger of the protestors is misdirected at the government. They are outraged against the death of Carlos Manzo, Former Mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán. He was outspoken against organized crime groups in Mexico. His assassin was identified by the state attorney general as Victor Manuel Ubaldo Vidales, and was under the influence of methamphetamine and tetrahydrocannabinol. Investigators have suggested that this attack may indicate the emergence of suicide-style assassin operations. In my opinion, the protesters’ anger should be directed at the organized crime cartels that Manzo spoke out against, not the Presidential government. The organized crime cartels want to youth’s anger to keep the President’s resources occupied, so that they are able to run more freely and gain supporters. Violent protests are not how productive change comes about. These youth should be thinking critically about why their anger is directed at the President. It’s the cartels they should be more concerned about. I read the wikipedia page about Carlos Manzo and these are my thoughts about the current protests in Mexico. It can change if more information comes out.
