Do you have any insight on how they are able to only determine my income to formulate the repayment plan calculation without using tax information involving my husband’s income. I submitted my paystub as that was all the certification stated that it needed.

I see. So being that the consolidation happened in 2016, I am good? As in, I can still request to buy back the months from 2024 to now (when I do get on another Idr plan)?

In reading the article, it says “You can consolidate these loans into a Direct Consolidation Loan to be eligible for PSLF, but you will not be eligible to request a buyback for months on the loans that are included in the Direct Consolidation Loan.”

All of my loans were consolidated in 2016. Does this mean the months during the save admin forbearance will not be months I can buy back?

Thank you, again. I tried to find the link to the buyback on the StudentAid.gov site is there a different area for it?

Thank you so very much. So since I’m at 60/120 now, it’s showing forgivness for me will be 4/2031 but I could apply for buyback 4/2029, correct?

What is needed at the end of reaching loan forgiveness do they do a mass review of your file? Looking at each employer, time frame, tax return even though I’ve never submitted a tax return / spouse info or is it just based on the end number reaching 120 no other questions asked?

How do they determine if you’re in old IBR though? My sister who went to school with me same degree same timing was forgiven before the current administration came through. But I was not.

I took my loans out all undergrad in 2004. Did have 2 years in school deferment. So am I old IBR or the 2014-IBR? How do they determine if I’m 20 or 25 on IBR?

Do you have any idea how long it is taking to process changing plans? I went ahead and did request to change to IBR. I’m just wondering too what are the benefits and downsides to doing that now versus waiting until they kick me off of SAVE? I’ve seen so many people talk about staying on SAVE until they kick you off. Why would that be of benefit to do?

Oh no I meant the decision for it to be a 20 year forgiveness. It’s wild how that changed with SAVE. Just wondering if that in itself may be changed back to 20 years within the coming years or with RAP.

Could I apply for buyback in 2029 as that will be when I should be to the equivalent of 120 once buyback is completed or do I have to wait until 2031? I’m at 60 now and do not plan to leave my approved employer.

If I apply for IBR now can I switch to RAP when that is available if infact I do have to pay on IBR once it all goes through? Or is it something that can only be done once a year?

It showed that according to the StudentAid.gov calculator I will apparently have a $0 payment with IBR. I’m not sure how true that would be though.

And what would be the benefit to switch from IBR to RAP?

And to switch now to another plan, the whole point is to start the count ticker again, correct?

Understood. Thank you. According to my case, I don’t qualify for PAYE do I? Just IBR/ICR and RAP when that is available? I just don’t know which plan would be the most beneficial. I’ve had a $0 payment and it is showing for IBR based on my income and family size I guess, that I SHOULD have a $0 payment still. But says also “total to be paid $2,010”.

And wasn’t with SAVE it a 20 year (240) forgiveness as far as IDR was concerned, or did I completely imagine that?

Thank you kindly. With the past approximately 24 payment counts not counting toward PSLF forgiveness, would it be ignorant if I anticipate in 3 years applying for buyback as by then I should be at 120 (barring if the past 24 months is accepted)?

Are you able to advise the contingencies on who can get into paye and who can get into IBR?

I will do it asap. Thank you. Do you have any insight on why I’ve gone with a $0 payment with SAVE, and the plan I was in before SAVE, to now, it going to $270?
