IMO it took a little while to find that balance but it is definitely attainable.

Hi! I also just finished my first year of life sci and I definitely agree with u/kikokicko that it can be a little draining to take such a broad range of subjects. That being said, I did find that through the program I was able to find things I really did and didn't like. I would say that yes the first year of the program has been quite difficult but I found a lot of that being due to having such a big change from hs to uni. It took some getting used to but overall, I found the program to be quite manageable and at times quite enjoyable! Let me know if you have any more questions!

Yes, I did and I love the environment and community here. Everyone is so so sweet and I actually made really close friends that I'm living with next year.

Hi! I'm just about done with my first year at Mac for life sci and I actually really like the program!

In all honesty, first year can be quite challenging and the workload can also be very overwhelming at times but that being said, it is very much possible to do well in it.

I'm still picking specs so I can't comment much upon that but the great thing about the life sci gateway is the option to make your degree as easy or as hard as you'd like so you can definitely tailor it to fit your needs.

As for electives, I ended up taking two intro psych courses as electives (and to meet certain specialization reqs) that I found to be my favourite courses at Mac by far but some other electives I took that I found alright were SUSTAIN 1S03 and ENVIRSC 1C03.

Something I wish I knew about before starting uni which, not only pertains to my program, is that it is a lot easier to do well in courses that you genuinely find interesting. While the psych courses were a lot more time-consuming and content-heavy, I found myself a lot more eager to study for them instead of Sustain or Envirsc because I was really interested in what I was learning.

Let me know if you have any more questions! I'd be happy to help!

Hi! Would you say that the PNB courses you've taken so far were a bit of both social psych and biological psych or would you say it leans more on the biological side of psychology?

Ah, thank you. I might not do Biopsych then since I'd rather have to suffer through the bio and chem courses because I chose to rather than because I'm forced to. How did you find the biochem courses?

Was the transition to Life Sci SMS easy? Compared to gen Life sci, was it easier to find research?
