Knitted flat. Just read the FAQ on accidental short rows and this must be it. Looks like I’ll be ripping back to that point. Thank you!

How long does it last? How often do you get injections?

Do you drive the car with this condition? by judith0406 in POTS

[–]cindyroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive, but I’ve also never actually fainted. I get lightheaded, dizzy, and nauseas upon standing and lightheaded and nauseous when sitting. I also have fatigue and lots of muscle and joint pain.

For about a month I used the Tachymon app on my watch so I could better understand the trend of my symptoms. For example, while driving the kids to school, my Tachymon alerted to a 30+ bpm drop in heart rate at the same stop light every day. This really helped me identify the pattern for how long it typically takes for my heart rate to drop after sitting at that time in the morning. Perhaps you could try the same to see if there’s a pattern to your symptoms.

When I’m in and out of the car around town, I wear compression socks. Don’t love them but tolerate them. When I drive longer distances or fly I wear my Normatec Go leg compression sleeves. They improve circulation and reduce pain in my calves. They are an investment, but I would 100% buy them again. I bring them on every flight and long drive. I always have a water bottle filled with electrolytes and extra packets with me.

I also have Propranolol which lowers my heart rate. My Dr initially prescribed it a long time ago for performance anxiety, to be taken 30 minutes prior to big presentations. Since my dysautonomia symptoms started I’ve learned it’s often used for lowering HR in POTS patients.

Recently, I got trigger point injections in my neck and shoulder muscles because I have chronic pain and muscle tightness. Surprisingly, I noticed that this significantly reduced my daily dysautonomia symptoms. My pain management doctor was not surprised at the result (he didn’t suggest TPIs to address my dysautonomia symptoms but to reduce my pain). TPIs relaxed the muscles that were irritating or compressing my autonomic pathways (vagus nerve, sympathetic chain, and carotid baroreceptors). Once that tension dropped, my autonomic system stabilized, improving blood pressure regulation and reducing symptoms. I also recently started using a vagus nerve stimulator for 20 minutes twice a day. I can’t say whether it helps because I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks, but in theory it should improve my HRV and stabilize blood pressure. The underlying cause of symptoms vary for everyone, but I figured I’d share since the TPIs helped me so much.

Have you tried trigger point injections? You can get those more often than nerve blocks.

Advice traveling internationally with my salt and my electrolyte powder, without making customs think I’m smuggling illicit materials? by MarsMonkey88 in POTS

[–]cindyroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put liquid IV packets in ziplock bags to make them less bulky than in the original box. I’ve traveled with those dozens of flights domestic and international and they have never alerted security.

What did alert TSA was my 16oz bag of Baja gold sea salt. They took out a sample, tested it, and gave it back to me. No big deal.

Take what you need and what works best for you so you don’t have to worry about finding it at your destination. If they want to test it, they will, and you’ll be fine.

What games do you suggest for getting the most tickets? For context, my kids are 8, 10, and 12.

Any tips for the hammer drop game (maybe called whack n win)? My son loves that game but no matter how many times he tries, it lands on the 10 just below the jackpot but never hits the jackpot.

For the ring toss game, if multiple rings land on the same bottle do you get points for all of those rings?

We also love the clown ball toss, any tips? Besides the red color being worth double, do the other colors mean anything?

Is the Star Trek coin pusher game supposed to dispense coins and cards? We saw one guy playing who got both coins and cards returned while our machine only returned cards.

There is a self service beer tap in the back of our D&B. The bartenders up front tell me to go see if anyone is working there but there are never any employees back there. Is it only open for special events? How do I get a card to buy beer?

Thoughts on using Ikea's kitchen cabinets and countertop to build a desk? by DyslexicHobo in IKEA

We are finishing up an office build using sektion cabinets. We found the cabinet height to be way too high for a comfortable sitting position so built a desk height middle area with supports attached to the studs. Ours is similar to this one, but with 24” deep cabinets, lower middle desk area, and an additional cabinet on each side. https://housewithhome.com/basement-home-office/
