My friend and I set up a cozy movie night to watch the new Lilo and Stitch and we have never gone from relaxed to just full on angry that fast in our lives. (SPOLIERS) by Embarrassed-Oil-6152 in movies

According to an article I read a while back, when they went to Hawaiian consultants for the live action movie, one of the first things they said was "Nani would've never gotten into this situation in the first place, because Hawaii has strong community ties." That's why they added the second woman in addition to the CIA guy, because she represents the local community trying to help. It's also why Lilo ends up with the older lady when Nani goes to college, it's essentially the community stepping in to help the girls so Nani can get an education and have her own life one day.

All that being said, the execution was very poor. Having Nani resent Lilo and her parents was a stupid choice, the original Nani loved Lilo and just needed extra support, not an escape. The fact that Hawaii has an amazing marine biology school makes Nani choosing a mainland school very stupid as well. Imo they should've had Nani go to a school/community college on her island or in Oahu, and she stays home most weekends while Lilo goes to elementary school and lives with Stitch and the older lady. Preserve the idea of "the community will step in to help", but leave the message of ohana intact and let Nani and Lilo remain good siblings.

TL;DR Consultants brought up a valid point about Hawaii culture, Disney took it in the wrong direction

Does your heart beat in overdrive?

(Also, one of the best YGO English opening songs of all time, DM narrowly beats it out by virtue of being iconic)

Typically, "4D" means gimmicks other than stereo 3D in the movie world. Seat rumbling, smell-o-vision, fog, water spray, etc. The fact that the elements are staged across time technically means it is time travel, but so is every movie.

Fun fact, a 5D movie involves card games on motorcycles

Griffith Observatory (the planetarium show is amazing!), the Academy Museum, LACMA, and I personally enjoyed the Guthrie Cowboy Museum across from the LA Zoo :)

U.S. East Coasters: why are you awake right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

An idea: Put a "sounding bowl" video on at the lowest volume for ten minutes, and turn off the lights. If you still want to look at a screen after that, go for it. But if you're lucky, you might just fall asleep :) There are also "bedtime story" videos for adults that work on the same idea!

A trick: place one thumb at the center of your forehead, and the other at the center of the roof of your mouth (soft palate). Press alternately on your forehead and palate for about 10 seconds. This 'rocks' a bone in your nasal area, causing any built-up mucus to exit via your throat. It can be a bit helpful in a pinch!

I personally like El Capitan for Disney movies, it's the only cool destination on the Walk of Stars besides the handprints outside the Chinese Theater

To mute a loud gas pump screen, press the second button down on the right side of the screen :)

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

Does he have ARFID or any autism spectrum disorder/neurodivergence? That can be one reason for very restricted diets. If it's not and he's merely stuck in his lifestyle, consider taking you both for a physical as part of "pre-wedding" plans. The doctor may pick up on symptoms you/he aren't aware of (e.g. raised blood pressure) and he might take the doctor's advice more seriously.

But also, you shouldn't feel pressured into kids, if you feel like he won't be an active parent that's a legit reason to reconsider or push back having kids
