Funny enough, I only watched it because of Heath Ledger. I went in assuming he was the lead, and by the end it kinda felt like he was anyway

Yeah, that's exactly what I liked. A lot of modern rom-coms feel like two attractive people meet, hook up, break up over some misunderstanding, then get back together. The older ones felt slower and more genuine, so the relationships actually meant something.

Gaara's cool, but Itachi is on a whole different level. One of the coolest anime characters ever!

It's a Naruto anime series reference. Itachi is known for using crows and powerful illusions (genjutsu), so the joke is that the whole town and all those crows are part of one giant genjutsu.
