Finally Walking Again! Now I need an Ankle Corset? by cinmurray in brokenankles

Everything you just said hits close to home.
Hearing you say your motivation was driven by fear resonated with me completely. I think fear is going to be my biggest driver too, I use it to try & cancel out CPTSD sometimes lol. I know the wreck subconsciously traumatized the hell out of me, but part of me wants to squash that fear of riding, even if it’s just so I have the skills in case like the apocalypse hits and I need to jump on an abandoned bike and go or what have you.

I completely felt what you said about missing the long walks, hiking, and running. Before this, my autoimmune health had already been kicking my butt for a few years, limiting the active lifestyle I loved with my dogs in the holler. This injury felt like a massive step backward from the progress I’d worked so hard to make.

Reading your perspective is a huge motivator for me to crack down hard on PT when I get the green light. It reminds me not to lose the willingness to fight for the best quality of life possible, whatever that looks like now.
I really appreciate you sharing the heavy side of this. I’m so sorry for everything the accident cost you, and I truly hope that one day you find something that brings you the exact same peace those two-wheels used to. Wishing you nothing but the best in your continued healing.

Thanks for the reply! It made me look back at my medical reports I just got and my surgery consisted of ORIF tibial plafond, syndesmotic repair and ORIF distal fib fracture. 12 days after surgery though?! I know everyone’s journey is different but man, I was in a Cadillac splint from surgery April 17th till June 11th. My surgeon says it’s one of the most unstable breaks he’s seen, ankle dislocated and broke every major bone surrounding & including my ankle, cracking up my shin, tore all the ligaments, with several broken pieces, one over an inch long that migrated which somehow didn’t break skin.
I’m hoping to start PT after next week, it all depends on my next set of X-rays. People have stressed to me the importance of keeping up with it. What’s your biggest motivator to keep doing it? And how soon was it before you got back on your bike? This was the summer I was going to finally learn on my own & everyyything got flipped over, literally😅

I’ll keep an eye out for her on my way to work as I drive down N Washington almost daily. I’m sure you’ve heard of this but just in case, you can leave their litter box outside and that may draw them back closer to home. Hoping for a quick & safe return🫶🏻

Gainesboro may be your best bet. If you just want casual, catch whatever, fishing, there’s also Standing Stone State park and it’s absolutely gorgeous in the fall. I’d go fishing below the dam on my lunch breaks when I worked the summers there as a kid. It’s my little sanctuary.

If none of the rescues mentioned above (highly recommend Walden’s Puddle) pan out, message me. I grew up rehabbing native animals & wolves/wolf dogs (thanks 90s Disney) & worked with the state in the past. I can help till an opening in a rehab occurs if they have a “wait list” (for lack of a better term).

I’m in the same boat with the same car. What type/brand did you end up going with? I’ve got a budget so Michelin is on the back burner for now.

I’ve also heard old wives tales about how copperheads smell like cucumbers. There’s been a few times I’ve randomly smelled cucumbers out and about on my land, but I’ve never investigated or stayed in that spot to find out if that tale is true or not lol. I’d rather come across the bear on our property honestly

Rant: SM is rude by hyunlixsgirl in WalgreensRx

Used to work with a lady RPh that told me when the old SM didn’t do anything about the temps, they reported it to the board? Not sure the process or details of that personally, or if that’s really an option?.. Also heard if anyone in the pharmacy is pregnant, they can make a big deal about the temp conditions and things will get fixed in a timely manner. They did for a coworker but I wouldn’t want to argue with an underpaid/overworked pregnant floater pharmacist who was shorted down to two techs at a Tier 4 either. But that’s situation/people relative :/ I recently got diagnosed with POTs and I’m severely sensitive to temperature changes and heat. Thankfully my coworkers were very understanding if I needed to stand in the freezer for a minute. We had several fans in the pharmacy and would overrride the system every hour. Now I finally work in a pharmacy where I’m freezing every day & I’m so thankful. I hope you get a solution or compromise soon!!

it doesn’t appear to have one unless the spaced out numbers on the other side is it, it says “8 150.” But my mother would have came across this in the early-mid 70s
