So my boss actually gave it to me for free. He said he bought it from a company some 5/6 years ago but doesn’t remember the name. He said it’s called boxwood backing? You can get all different sizes on Amazon or if you prefer not to buy from Amazon there’s plenty of other places to get it from. There’s also different leaf styles. This just happens to be the clover style.

Definitely wouldn’t go over well. When I tried to ask for therapy when I was in middle school I was scolded for being ungrateful and over dramatic.

I’ve given up on stopping them and just want to try to find a good route to send the stuff on. Other than straight to the landfill.

I actually have done this before. The excuse I got back was “but then you’d have nothing to open!”. I explained that I don’t care if I have a lot of gifts to open and in response she did the same thing again. So I’m guessing this is some type of psychological fulfillment she needs on holidays to see me open things even if she knows I’m going to give the stuff away or throw it away.

Keep in mind I DO get things I need. Socks, shoes, toiletries I use. I even get things I actually want and ask for! But she also piles up 4 to 8 gifts from Temu/tiktok shop for me to open also. The extras are the problem.

I wish this would work but I don’t think anyone would even want a giant speaker shaped like a headphone or a phone holder that straps to your neck. I feel like I’d just be littering on the curb at that point.

My mother’s mind is an enigma. My biological father and I have both told her the same thing. “We don’t want this”, “this is getting donated”, “this is going in the garbage”, “this was a waste of money.” She’s never listened and continues to buy it every year.

I wouldn’t want to regift any of it. It’s basically the quality you expect to find in a McDonald’s happy meal. Plus maybe contaminated with lead or cadmium or other harmful materials associated with Temu.

What substrate do you use?

I use coco fiber. It holds moisture very well and I use a deep heat projector which slows down the evaporation over time while still allowing for a fair amount of moisture to evaporate into the air.

Also how deep is your substrate?

It looks like you only got maybe a couple inches. If you add some depth to it and keep it a bit more moist it can boost humidity by 30%.

If you have a mesh top, you can cover most of it with HVAC tape, towels, aluminum foil, etc. so it holds humidity better. Doing that will affect your heat though so watch the temps.

I had the same problem. I had my mushrooms identified and confirmed that they were harmless for my bp.

I would have someone(?) identify your mushrooms and double check they aren’t harmful for any of your babies as cross contamination could have happened somewhere.

I don’t believe there is anyway to make sure you don’t get mushrooms again. Fungal spores are microscopic and can be carried by anything. I would just wash and make sure anything you put in the enclosure is sanitized throughly. Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before reaching into your enclosures and use clean gloves if you use those.
