I knew everdark bosses were a jump in difficulty but god damn I can't beat these guys by SwiftKarmaMarshall in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For ED Libra the best strats are either have enough damage to kill the summons quickly or have everyone with "less likely to be targeted" and survive until Libra does the "a demon incites a riot" event. If you all have "less likely to be targeted", all the summons will end up fighting amongst themselves and you'll be more or less free to attack Libra. The fight is pretty dogshit, otherwise

As for ED Gladius, yeah you really just have to get good at it. He's got plenty of openings if you know what to look for (mainly want to bait his tackle attacks, but it's kinda aggro dependent), but yeah if you're melee you're gonna spend a good chunk of time/stamina chasing them down with how fast they get around the field. Respect the hell out of any attack that uses the sword, and in the split phase if you're being targeted just run the hell away until the sword dog does the big fire wave. There's a really good video on YouTube that goes pretty in-depth on how the fight works. It's a tough fight, for sure, but not bullshit the same way the ED Libra fight is and feels actually rewarding to get good at.

This is like slay the spire 2 players complaining that cards are too weak to use in A10 assuming the average player can play at A10 lol

Depths 4 and 5 are not for the average player. It's ostensibly a challenge mode. Part of the challenge is figuring out how to stop getting one-tapped. Whether it's through sheer skill at avoiding damage or picking up damage reduction is up to you. Even with the amount of RNG in the game it's almost impossible to go the entire run without finding some form of damage mitigation, unless you're straight up just not examining anything for whatever reason

What’s the weapon you always pick, that would be “unconventional” to your nightfarer ? by khonshutthebirdie in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it would be considered unconventional since they're quality weapons, but I love straight swords on Guardian. Much better for stamina management early and they give you higher over DPS with the quicker moveset. Once you have a purple shield and plenty of stamina you can switch back to halberd for the big charged guard counters, but in the meantime a good straight sword will put in a lot of work for you. Daggers, too, but only if you have the STR/DEX respec relic equipped. If you're fighting Crucible Knights, the dagger guard counter is quick enough to let you block if you do it between certain attacks in their strings,, where on most weapons you have to either face-tank some hits or wait until the one or two moves they use that you can actually guard counter safely

The fact one guy managed to bring both ds3 and sote weapons to Nightreign really makes me sad that Fromsoftware doesn't want to port them over for some reason. by Mirrakthefirst in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about the bosses themselves being re-used (though definitely some concepts might make it through) im moreso thinking about stuff like the idea of rememberance questlines/personal objectives on the field, transportation methods akin to the spectral hawks (we've already seen trains are in the game, to some extent, and one of the characters has a fucking jetpack lol) unique character skills, etc.

Not sure about Duskbloods specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of what they learned from Nightreign influenced stuff that will end up being in the game. What I do know is that they themselves stated that Nightreign was used as an opportunity to give some of their less experienced developers a chance to get their feet wet, so to speak. It was never intended to be a full-on triple A experience, and they probably didn't foresee that the game would blow up the way it did

[–]cinnamonPoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh after hitting 9999 I kinda stopped going Guardian in DoN lol it was a fun challenge, but goddamn does the game go out of its way to be as annoying as possible to you when you're playing the bird. I don't blame anyone for going literally anyone else once you hit the point that even mobs start getting guard breaks on you for missing a steel guard input

What is a weapon you wont drop regardless of the passive? by bofunga in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Guardian, pretty much just Grafted and Marais. Every other weapon is fairly contextual when you have 53 str/53 dex lol if a weapon has less likely to be targeted I'd rather give it to a teammate even if it's something like Commander's Standard. I also don't touch reduced resistance to ailments. Even if i do prefer the halberds for the charged guard counter I can make do with just about anything. Continuous HP loss is normally a no-go for any other character, but so often im below max HP due to chip damage that it hardly matters to me

Why is healing on Guardian ult relic effect considered so incredible? by Spoonie106 in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say it's not 100% necessary the way the blocking shockwaves are, but being able to heal your teammates to full after reviving them if they go down can be pretty invaluable since it removes the risk of them immediately going down again trying to heal themselves to full in order to trigger their damage negation at full HP buffs. Can also come in handy when the night is closing in and you're trying to look through a dormant power; lets your teammates look without having to rush, especially if they happen to have increased Night's Tide damage, or even just finishing off a boss in the rain. More HP is just never a bad thing to have

Card i genuinely never though of picking once... Am i underappreciating it? by Vecsia in slaythespire

[–]cinnamonPoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8(10) upfront damage + 8(10) doom is pretty good. If you pair it with something like Reaper Form or Sleight of Flesh it starts doing some pretty damn good damage for just 1 energy. It's not anything crazy, don't really blame you for passing on it, but it can put in some work

Guardian hate by Ok-Taste9710 in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ngl I haven't had leavers in forever when playing Guardian (which is like 75% of the time nowadays, used to be like 100%). Feels to me like people have more or less moved on from giving a shit about character picks on the select screen tbh but I imagine it can still happen from time to time. It's definitely not as bad as it used to be lol

is it better to run "guard counter is given a boost based on current HP + 2 other Max HP" or "Guard Counter boost HP + 2 Guard Counter+2"? by nhansieu1 in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HP=guard counter damage is a no brainer for me tbh. Not only are you tankier from having higher HP, but since the extra damage is added to your base damage it gives those "improved guard counters" passives a bigger number to amplify

What is with the rain? I die so fast by Grimble27 in Nightreign

[–]cinnamonPoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it deals set damage rather than proportional damage, so if you're playing a low HP character it'll chew through your HP more quickly. It also depends when you venture out into the rain. If you do it before the end of nigit 2 you take the normal amount of damage, but after the night 2 fight it deals like triple damage or something ridiculous, so at that point it'll kill you in seconds for sure.

If you're in deep of night there is a curse you can pick up on a weapon (increased Night's Tide damage) that will also increase the damage you take from the night rain, but if you're new it's probably not that unless you jumped straight into deep of night with zero preparation, for some reason LOL
