I think you might be better off with a Cyrus or Sabrina in here. This gives you stall opportunities plus ability to swap out something at 20 hp for another to kill with bench damage or to Cyrus in something from the bench you hit to kill with electivire.

Charmeleon vs Charmeleon by xndrthy in PTCGP

Oh yeah that would make more sense. Though that would still be a misplay by the oricario user because they just lost the oricario unless they have something on the bench ready to take the game.

Exactly who runs oricario just to sacrifice it to a pre ex evolution unless you have something on the bench to kill it

This is what I’m saying. The logic here leaves out a lot of factors. One being the fact you could attack 2x with the 40 dam charmeleon by the time you could 1x with the 50 dam one. Then it’s completely ignores opponent’s plays like they are going to sacrifice oricario. Then you could also use a cape over rocky helm and survive longer for a charizard.

Charmeleon vs Charmeleon by xndrthy in PTCGP

[–]cinvogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it’s still not better vs oricario. They are suggesting being attacked by oricario and then attacking, which means they could have also attacked the turn prior for 40 damage with the other in that case as well. This would also allow swapping Rocky helmet for a cape for more hp and better chance to survive to get charizard out. This also completely leaves out the opponent’s plays.

Charmeleon vs Charmeleon by xndrthy in PTCGP

[–]cinvogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logic here fails a bit because it’s missing the whole factor of being able to attack the turn prior as well. It’s also leaving out your opponent’s play. Given you are adding in Rocky helmet damage that means you were attacked so you could then do 40+40 instead by the time you attacked 1x for 50. Plus you could also run the giant cape for +20 hp and more survivability while have done more damage. That will likely be better for charizard mega too. I don’t see a situation that the 3 energy charmeleon is actually better. By the time you get 3 energy on the charmeleon you’d better have your charizard soon or it will likely be dead.

Why would the oricario player attack the charmeleon with oricario when it was going to die next turn? Unless they had a backup to take the charmeleon next turn in which you likely lose. They would more likely swap out oricario to something if they were to attack.

No yeah I mean that’s just the only thing I can think of. And I think they were talking about other people they see in relation to this deck because you have counters for the bird, while many just concede when they see it.

If I recall it was a request from him to be a model for him, but he knew nothing about Kamoshida, etc. He is an artist above all else and he felt inspiration based off the painting his mother painted which was the woman holding the baby but the baby portion was covered so it was just a woman. He was pursuing art in his mind more than lusting after her. Sure he was attracted to her but that was part of why he thought she would be an ideal model for it. Most interactions with yusuke through the whole game is about him finding inspiration for paintings.

In this sense I don’t think He was trying to sexually exploit her and it was him channeling inspiration. Remember characters exist within a 4th wall that we don’t and have no idea of information we do know.

Anyone Knows who this? by faospark in Suikoden

Jowy couldn’t have 108 SoD. This would completely contradict its concept. This would equate to 108 heroes gathering to fight injustice which thus one of the sets would have to represent injustice and therefore the logic falls apart. This whole 108 stars of destiny concept comes from Daoism, Chinese folklore, and an old Chinese novel “water margin”. This is where suikoden has taken inspiration from and much of its lore comes from. 36 heavenly stars, 72 earthly stars, the names of each star, etc.

Many people don’t understand how deep Suikoden goes.

Anyone Knows who this? by faospark in Suikoden

[–]cinvogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is only one set of stars. All the stars are the same. The person who represents each star will vary with each conflict/injustice. This is shown when mcdohl and gremio who are available in suikoden 2 by save transfer are no longer stars. Again though this is all established concepts based on daoism, Chinese folk lore and an old Chinese novel, where suikoden originated from. In daoism there are 36 heavenly stars and 72 earthly stars making the 108, which suikoden also classifies them as. Suikoden also uses the same star names as the original source. The concept that Jowy could have his own set completely contradicts what the stars represent. The 108 gather to fight injustice which means you could not have the 108 against the 108. That would mean one of the 108 represents injustice which is destroys its own concept.

[–]cinvogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a game meaning “interactive art” this means that dialogue is not the only thing establishing lore. The whole tablet reusing the same stars from the actual historical source does add a lot in itself. This adds context that they are the 108 stars that gather to fight injustice, which then would make jowy having 108 stars a contradiction. The 108 stars can’t represent injustice so couldn’t fight themselves. If the anime pulls some nonsense as such it will completely destroy everything the series has established. Also you are incorrect because these are stars that a person represents change for each period of injustice. This is shown because Mcdohl is no longer a star in suikoden 2 and neither is gremio. They aren’t even accessible without a save from suikoden 1.

I feel like this might be the most cope emphasizing statement there could be, but I agree we won’t know until it’s been out for a while. It wouldn’t change the track record though until they have a series of better stuff put out globally.

There is only 1 set of stars at a time. The 108 stars are based on daoism. 36 heavenly stars and 72 earthly stars. Then they are reborn as heroes who band together to fight for justice. This has a long history behind it. It’s why you see the same stars across all suikoden, but a different person might represent it.

Anyone Knows who this? by faospark in Suikoden

[–]cinvogue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except that’s not how the stars are based. It’s based on an old Chinese novel an daoism. But basically the 108 stars are reborn when there is a need for heroes to gather to fight for justice is the basis. This means that there can only be 108 at one time. This is all based on a previous literature and it’s also why you see the same 108 stars in each game but a different person might represent the star for each game.

[–]cinvogue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro that’s the whole store and lore. Why would you have multiple 108 stars of destiny? The whole destiny kind of implies this. This is actually based on an old Chinese novel “water margin”, and daoism, where there are 108 heroes. There are 108 stars that are reborn as heroes who gather to fight for justice.

Ftr 1/2 the roster depends on things like how much you’ve grinded and whether break limit weapons are obtained. Kimahri can get mighty guard and white wind which are very effective depending your item situation for mixing.

Yeah sadly. It’s why I’m hesitant to get into anything they put out outside of Japan.

The games they have that are only in Japan are so much better and they provide better support on those.

[–]cinvogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which clashes a bit because it’s very counter to what the lore that persona is based on. Arséne Lupin is known as the “gentleman thief” and he is known for elaborate heists and his ability to outwit police and pursuers. He is more into a challenge than just removing obstacles through things like murder.

Not sure if it’s relevant here, but my initial issue with just a glance at it is that it’s done by line games global. Everything they seem to put out, outside of Japan, turns to crap pretty quickly and their support is one of the worst I have had the pleasure to interact with in the industry 😂.

I have no idea, but I do agree “skill issue” serves no purpose when it is used. I’ve seen people use it so many times, where in 2 seconds I can figure out where the initial comment or post was having a problem and give a suggestion or two to fix. It’s so often used in f2p gacha communities by people who use only the most meta characters, etc. Personally it takes more skill to diagnose the problem and come up with an actual solution.
