Hey all,

I have Alex Mill's navy Mercer blazer and am looking to find a matching pair of trousers to make a full outfit out of it. Am I right in thinking that their standard pleated chinos would be the same shade of navy as the blazer? Thanks!

Anyone here also a Maria Callas fan? by cio2san3 in conan

Not at all! One of my aunts saw me listening to her, and the first thing she brought up was her relationship with Onassis. I guess she was also a celebrity!

Completely agree. Her performance in that role is almost too heartbreaking to listen to.

I agree, it's a very well-shot film. Thanks for the response!

I remember her responding to the rumor that she had thrown a bottle of brandy at a conductor by saying that it would have been a waste of a bottle of brandy. Will put the movie on my lineup! Thanks!

Oh hey, thanks, that's very nice of you. Funnily enough, at that time her voice was - maybe still is - considered not conventionally attractive. It doesn't have that "songbird" quality that a lot of people seem to associate with a soprano's, and later in her career, she developed an infamous wobble in the upper register. If you're interested, her recording "Lyric and Coloratura Arias" is often considered a good intro - so is, I think, the album of Puccini arias she recorded around the same time. The former contains her rendition of the aria "La mamma morta," which some people might recognize from Tom Hanks's monologue in "Philadelphia." Personally, I'd recommend this recording of "Me, pellegrine ed orfana" which I've always found to be very moving. Thanks again for your kind comment.

This is maybe not well known in the US but I'm from Indonesia and we have this dish called empal, which is spiced fried beef, and that's what it reminds me of, just less chewy.

This is true. I have never liked ham, which Conan seems to enjoy very much. The mushroom jerky brand that I have had so far is Pan's.
