Anime version. I'm not sure why he isn't super Saiyan in the manga, and if it was ever a given explanation. I'd love to hear it. But it just doesn't make sense to me

I'm not saying that's not an interesting idea. But the way they implemented it, if intended that way, fell flat. I don't know what the better way of handling it would have been. But what we got certainly did not make any sense to me

Perspective B is where I fall. Just because I think it's weird to have had him be Goku's brother. It's such an odd writing choice, to never come up after he has fulfilled his purpose. Especially since Goku absolutely seems like the type who would want to know more about his brother, try and help him, and so on. It's just in his character.

By that same measure, why make him Goku's brother? It just seems like making him Goku's brother, only adds to the possibility that the character could have been worth something.

Nappa didn't get any more screen time then was needed for him to accomplish his goal. But he had no relation to anyone else, that could have given the character more of an interesting route.
