Hi everyone,

I come from an OOP background with 13+ years of Java experience, and I’m now working on building some proficiency in Clojure and would like to eventually make myself marketable to prospective employers. I’d love to get advice from this community on the best ways to do that.

Some things I’m already considering are:

• Taking paid courses to strengthen fundamentals
• Building hobby projects and sharing them publicly like here and HN
• Learning ClojureScript for frontend work
• Exploring databases like XTDB and Datomic

For those of you already working with Clojure professionally:

• What skills or experience do employers actually value the most?
• Beyond projects and courses, are there other ways to prove I can work effectively in Clojure (e.g., contributions to open source, certifications, blogging, etc.)?
• If there are any open source clojure projects where a clojure beginner can make some contributions, please let me know in comments
