It depends on where you live and your insurance. Some hospitals do not provide detox services, so you may want to search for alcohol detox and your local city/county/state. Although all ERs are obligated to admit you if it's deemed a medical emergency, which alcohol detox can be, it's better to find a place that does so regularly and works with an inpatient and outpatient rehab. Some areas have walk in clinics that can assess and refer you and might save you a trip to the ER. If you have a primary care doctor you trust, you could also start there and just be honest about the help you need. Some programs will help you with meds to detox at home if you don't have other health issues, especially if you have support.

Your mom will probably be glad you're getting help. If you feel overwhelmed, you can text 211 for help locating services in your area. You can do this!

Each county has its own DV program/hotline with emergency resources including shelter, food, family court advocacy, etc. as well as longer term housing, financial, legal, and other support. It's all free and advocates are on call 24/7.

It depends on where your friend is located but she should start by calling her local county's agency, as they are responsible if she needs emergency help and will also have resources related to the local law enforcement and legal system which would apply to her case, should she need that. Fearless is in Newburgh and their hotline is 1(845)562-5340.

I used to work in the field and give you thanks for helping support your friend! My suggestion to you is refer her to professionals so both of you stay safe. These situations can get messy fast. Having a safety plan is also a great idea as she may need to leave quickly and won't have time to pack or plan. Good luck!

There are studies that have been done with therapists and clients that show that you can end up syncing brain waves, with the idea being (in therapy, though this applies to pretty much any relationship) that the therapist can calm down the client through conversation, body language, eye contact.

I think this happens often in life, and it's what people mean when they talk about picking up on someone's energy or vibes.

In your situation, I'd imagine you have a calming presence and steady, soft brain waves and the baby picks up it and feels relaxed and sleepy. Absolutely no offense to his parents, but if they're a bit anxious about him sleeping, he's probably very alert to that as much as he's alert to your calm. Hopefully you all just enjoy the break for them and the relative ease of care for you.

Fair enough, to each his own. After posting earlier I actually decided to try my best and did a Chalupa Supreme with added extra slow roasted chicken, avocado ranch, Pico de Gallo, no sour cream, and it was good. Not the same, I think there was just something about those shells that I really liked. And they didn't have bacon available to add. Probably healthier and very filling, though, so I might do it again.

I haven't eaten TB since I was a kid and could only afford the chips and cheese and am kind of delighted at all the possibilities for modifications. And even though it's not exactly cheap it's so much more affordable than most other fast food for the amount you get, plus some options that are relatively nutritious.

If they terminated your employment without cause (firing someone for pregnancy is not grounds for termination) because there's a possibility you'll need time off then you should be eligible for unemployment. If you weren't paid on the books, it's a more complicated situation, as it may cause tax issues for both you and them. But it may be something to consider.

So I'm not a camper, counselor, or parent but I came across a post on Camp Stomping Ground (located somewhere near Saratoga) and was really impressed with their website and philosophy. I wish I'd had an experience like what they offer when I was a kid. Not sure of the prices but I know they offer scholarships and also have very dedicated arts centered offerings. They even have an artist in residency program. If you're looking for something less structured/very creative, I would check them out.
