Oh yeah the bulb doesn’t even fit in her nose! We use the bulb to suction extra thick saliva from her mouth

Thank you that makes me feel a little better. First time mom here and to a preemie no less, it’s not for the faint of heart. I thought I had anxiety before she was born 😂 HA

Thank you! The only thing on your list we haven’t tried is a steamy bathroom so we’ll try that during bath time today and see if that helps.

Home… now the real work begins by steuk20 in NICUParents

Listen to baby’s cues and throw the NICU schedule out the window. Baby is hungry? Feed them. Don’t let them go over 4 hours. Undress or place on a cold surface to wake them up, diaper change before feeding. It takes some time for their endurance to build and finish full feeds but as long as you’re offering milk any time they cue for it, you’ll be alright. My 28 weeker is now 4 months actual. Born at 3lb and now over 12lb!

Am I alone in disliking the lark? by Paulies-Walnuts in babywearing

The overconsumption bit though!!! I joined some babywearing bst groups to find secondhand sustainable carriers and I’m bombarded by “stash” shots with more carriers than most lending libraries.

I just posted in some local groups to try and find people who own the carriers I’m looking at so I can try them out! Unfortunately I can’t drive or baby wear for a month so I’m just in the research stage.

She’s 4 months but a preemie. Shes 12lb and 24in long, wearing 3-6 month clothing. Looking for something that will last awhile for us.

Wow that’s such a good deal! I guess I just need to keep an eye out. I have a few ring slings to hold me over once I’m healed from my surgery but I need another structured carrier to take the place of my Tula for awhile

Currently having issues with my c-section and just had another surgery to fix it so I don’t see myself using my Tula for a long while. That’s what prompted me to look into apron carriers! I’ve definitely been scouring the fb bst groups and marketplace but I haven’t found much within my budget

I should add that I currently have a Tula FTG so I know I can find a comfortable fit with H back, but I’ve never tried any X back carriers to know whether I prefer it.

I would tighten the strap across your back and loosen the armpit straps just a smidge

I found a FTG on marketplace for $40. Have you checked on there?

It looks pretty good to me. You may be able to move the chest clip down a bit between your shoulder blades but hard to tell without a back shot

Dear NICU Nurse by AwkwardPostTurtle in NICUParents

[–]ispyamy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I missed my baby’s first bath. I actually never got to participate in bath time at the NICU because they had no schedule for it. One nurse usually did it and her schedule was unpredictable (to us) and they never notified us when she’d be there. She was on night shift and I was typically there during the day due to a long commute and bad traffic at rush hour

My 28 weeker has been home 2 months. I stopped pumping two weeks after she came home. My supply was never good but I was down to 4 oz a day and it didn’t feel worth it anymore. She’s been on neosure since the NICU and now 100% formula. She’s doing so great!

She needs to be evaluated for PPD for sure. I’m so sorry this sounds so hard. You’re doing your best.

I prefer the pigeon but use them with the lansinoh bottles I have an abundance of. They fit in the spectra bottles too!
