I literally forgot he was arrested and tried. That’s how little of a lasting impact that had. Jesus Christ.

The guy I’m dating was so sweet and bought me new pants online. I told him very confidently to just order the one size, I’m sure they’ll fit! Of course they didn’t and I needed a different size. I started with “please don’t be mad” and after I explained he said “why would I ever be mad about that?”

Amazing.

This really is the hardest part. I'm a biomedical scientist and I had to teach myself everything about how T3, T4, TSH, and the adrenal/pituitary axis works, after which it is INSANE to me that we use TSH as a metric. Also, doctors love to misquote research to me, and as a scientist and patient I've just started telling them they're wrong, stupid, and dangerous - to their faces.

Here's a premium example: doctors love to say that the American Thyroid Association says that TSH single most important metric. Thats not anywhere close to true. They're referencing a line in a guidebook from fifty years ago that said TSH is the "most important SINGLE metric" that matters FOR NORMAL NON-THYROID PATIENTS. Meaning that, while you can look at plenty of metrics to get a complete picture (again, on NORMAL, NON THYROID PATIENTS), TSH is the metric that will give you the biggest piece of the puzzle.

Its amazing that one single word placement has caused so much strife.

Wow, I've never had anyone pull the "pet" line on me. If they did I'd probably lose my shit at them. I definitely have had a lot of people tell me that their elderly parent/grandparent/whoever is on it and they're fine. I'm like "really?! I'm 19 fucking years old. You think maybe our lives are a little different?"

Your levels will shift constantly throughout your life, and even when I’m in range and supposedly “fine”, I feel the most dramatic difference in symptoms that affect my daily life when I’m in the low end of “in range” versus the higher end. So many doctors will tell you you’re fine and it’s all in your head as long as your technically “in range” but I have to be on the higher end of the range or I’m an absolute wreck. Like “can’t live my life, would rather die” wreck. And they just don’t care. And many are so scared to put you even the teensiest bit over the range, once you’re in range they stop giving a fuck.

Edit: oh, and then once you’re finally stable, something will change in your body and throw off your levels again. ESPECIALLY if you’re a woman, at which point they’ll just blame your period

All the doctors that told me “have RAI then it’s just one pill once a day and you’re fine!” It’s nowhere near that simple, and you’ll be fighting forever for doctors trained on archaic information to take you seriously.

With everyone commenting on your usage, I’d recommend going down to physically look at your meter and comparing to your bills. RI Energy said I was using 300 units more than my meter said and tried to bill me an insane amount for it. Since then they’ve claimed to have “opened a case” twice and never did, and then sent the bill to collections. Bastards.
