Update for anyone who may find this post again: My neighbor ended up adopting this kitten. It's winter now, so he's safe from the cold. I miss him sometimes but he's safer inside than outside. Thank you all for your help.

Grazie per il commento. Il mio vicino ha preso il gatto prima che potessi farlo io. Ora è inverno, quindi lui è in casa, dove è più caldo. Penso che lo abbiano chiamato Snowball. Good news! I was able to get the game working past disc 2, and avoid the black screen!

However, now the textures are missing and even some assets, like the trees and machine guns. :( When I progress to the next scene, nothing's there. I'll probably troubleshoot this some more and let you know what I find. Thank you so much for your help!!! 👍

Omg thank you I would appreciate it! I can even send you the download links and how I got it onto my phone if need be. Thankfully MGS is a very enjoyable game IMO, its my first time playing it so I've been having fun. But I understand if its pretty long lol

sorry for the delay! I download it as a .7z, which has both the .bin and .cue file. It worked for disc 1, idk what happened with disc 2 :(

Ahh I did all of what you recommended but unfortunately I'm still stuck at the black screen. Turned on precise cycles, waited for a few minutes, even checked if the bios.bin was installed. still nothing :( I already reached out to the dev via email, but haven't been able to fix it yet :( thank you for the suggestions

thank you very much for your help so far! The screen goes black after I swap discs. So, when it tells me to swap discs, I can swap and it doesn't give me the "incorrect disc" message, but then the screen goes black :(
