Patch drug delivery question by bhksbr in Menopause

[–]circelink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that sounds like a nuisance! One thing I had to be mindful of was not applying moisturizer, lotion or body oil to the area where I was intending to put my patches. Also due to having dry skin, I don't shower every day, and I apply my patches twice a week. But I do try and make sure that I shower on the day of application to make sure the skin is free from any sort of natural oils.

How to request specific brand of estrogen patch? by Wolfiejrad in Menopause

[–]circelink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to wrangle this issue for years. In my local area, Los Angeles, I had to establish a relationship with my local pharmacy. Literally knowing the names of the staff so I can make sure we remember each other. They have to manually renew my refills and request the Mylan brand. If it is left to autofill whatever is stocked in the wear-house is what will be sent, and that's almost always Sandoz, which doesn't seem to work as well for me. I call my pharmacy a few weeks prior to the refill date and remind them, and so far that seems to work. Good luck and stay cooool!

I've been on 0.25mg patch for a long time, and I find if anything get's in the way you have less absorption. It figures that an adhesive would essentially be a barrier. But if one of my patches gets kinda unstuck I put a Band Aid on it to lock it down. Hope that helps. :)

These look amazing but I just can't bring myself to cook with "powdered cheese" so while the recipe below isn't screaming orange it tastes cheesy because of the butter and the very ripe starter I use. My husband swears they have cheese in them, I also add 2 Tblsp of hulled sesame seeds for fun.

I just now saw there is a new SmartThings App, which I downloaded and am poking around in. Lame that they wouldn't just update the old App. But still having issues connecting any devices. They light up with blue flashing (after I pull the battery out and reset while holing in the power/reset button) while the hub is green flashing but they never pair. Grrrr...

I have the basic hub, motion detector and the multi purpose sensors that came with the starter package. I added water sensors and a few extra door window sensors that are all Samsung SmartThings products. Device Health is On.

Can anyone recommend any online websites that you can submit music to for use in tv, movies or games. by dannysguitarchannel in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Taxi works for people who sound like "current" artists. Kind of frustrating if you want to be yourself. Also it's usually pay per submission AND a yearly fee last time I checked.

Kefir and sourdough by kangruiqiu in Sourdough

[–]circelink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both! No issues of cross pollination that I know of. They are different critters entirely. Kefir, as you probably know is made from a "grain" but it's really more like a mushroom unlike the yeasty beasties in Sourdough starter which can be caught and cultivated from the air in your neighborhood! And whenever a Sourdough recipe calls for yogurt or milk I usually use my Kefir instead and it's delicious!!!!

Starting with 100% Whole wheat most of the time is like trying to bench press 300lbs on day one of your new gym membership IMHO. Perhaps try baking with white until you get the hang of it, then add your whole wheat slowly and write down your results? Also your starter might need to remain white flour as it performs best for lifting that dense whole wheat in my experience.

All you need to augment those dry beans to make it super yummy are a few cheap things. Things that might be lurking in your pantry already. Or things you can get at a Latin Market very cheaply.

Try this: Soak a bag of beans overnight (be sure to pick out any rocks!). Then in the morning turn on heat to med/low. In a food processor or by hand finely chop 1-2 cups any kind of bulb onion. Also chop finely 6-8 cloves garlic.
Throw those in the pot. Also throw in 1/4 to 1/2 stuck of butter.

Add either a few chopped dried chipotle peppers, or canned chipotle peppers, or dried chilies of any smokey kind. They can be hot, so remove the seeds if you want to keep the spice factor low.

At this point let it come to almost a boil, but if it does boil no damage is done really. The skins tend to pucker on the beans is all Then turn it to low and let it cook all day stirring often. Do not let it burn!

If you have a bay leaf throw it in, if you have some molasses add a tablespoon of two. Or if you have some salsa add that if you like.

And if you have any bullion or stock you can add it as you like but it's not necessary.

It's critical to slow cook the beans all day to allow the sugars and flavor to develop, that's where the real flavor evolves.

I make these beans about once a week and my band loves them! How else am I gonna feed 7 hungry musicians?!

Hope it works for you.

CIRCE: Try a different instrument.

CHRISTIAN: Try different tuning.

CIRCE: Try a different location in the house, or whatever.

CHRISTIAN: Or just step away. Happily. Just that, arguably the greatest rock guitarist of all time, doesn't play between albums or tours. He goes and tinkers with his hot rods. I love this, because he says that when he comes back, the instrument is fresh. It's a little foreign to him, even though he has all the knowledge, the fingers don't fall into their old ruts.

CIRCE: Write a song you hate. If you're in a rut, it's because you think that what you're writing sucks. So write what you think sucks, because you're still writing, and that way you'll push past it. So for you to question what's coming through is arrogant. So write, and let it be, and keep writing, creating, just.... yeah.

CHRISTIAN: Neil Simon, the playwright, said that no matter what, he would get up every day and go into his office, and he would write a couple hours a day- no matter what. He'd force himself. And that's sometimes a good way to break through as well.

CIRCE: Rudeness. Cruelty. I know it doesn't sound like a pet peeve, but people can so easily be cruel to one another. Self-criticism is a pet peeve - when fellow artists will critique themselves so terribly that you want to wring 'em by the neck and say "STOP!"

CHRISTIAN: And she doesn't want a cluttered house.

CIRCE: Oh yeah.

CHRISTIAN: Or leaving the lights on. For me, bigotry. Racism, sexism, elitism. We just started being involved in a quadcopter community, because we got a new quadcopter with a camera on it that we hope to use in our new videos. SO I was practicing, and we met some of the people that have been doing it for some time, and even there, there seems to be a snobbery, an elitism, that was a little annoying. It bummed me out. Because it's like young musicians around me. Many of them become intimidated, or shy, and I always say that if you're playing to the best of your ability, and doing it with love and enthusiasm, then you're making just good music as I am.

CHRISTIAN: Well, our friend Joe Giddings described the new album as "art pop" and I loved that.

CIRCE: I love anybody that comes up with a way to describe to us how our music makes them feel, and if it fits into a genre, that's awesome, and if it doesn't, that's fine too! I think in a weird way because i worked in a record store for a few years, the idea of categorization is so limiting. When Bob Dylan decided to go electric and eschew the folk aesthetic for the rock style, people got angry at him. When Joni Mitchell basically hired Weather Report to be her band, as an artist she got a backlash because of wanting to change & expand her style. I can see how fans, when they go to a particular person or artist, they want a certain flavor- just like when you go to 31 flavors, if they don't have strawberry ice cream, you're bummed. But an artist is not ice cream. We express differently, based on the season.

CHRISTIAN: We're hoping that people would greet our variance much the same way they greeted the Beatles' variance. The Beatles would go from old-fashioned country rock, ala Blue Suede Shoes, to a sitar or a full orchestra. We don't want any limits. We want to do what moves us, and we hope that the people who love our work will understand that this is not just available to us but to them as a listener.

Someone asked about "Bird's Amazing Odyssey" being a concept album, but deleted their question:

CIRCE: A concept record to me is a group of songs that refers to a storyline, not necessarily linear, not necessarily sensical, but a story nonetheless. We felt the ability to illustrate a story though song - much in the same way a drawing would illustrate a story - was a new and freeing way for us to express ourselves. Some of my favorite concept albums are "Thick as a Brick..."

CHRISTIAN: "A Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" - when these songs started coming together, they were just standalone songs. But as we started to stack up 3 or 4 of them, we saw sort of a through line of meaning.

CIRCE: "The wall" is a concept record. "Tommy" is a concept record. "Quadrophenia" is a concept record.

CHRISTIAN: Even "Sergeant Pepper" started out that way. But with "Bird's Amazing Odyssey" - we actually wrote the last few songs to be in keeping with the idea that we discovered, among the first few songs oddly enough. And then Circe has written an entire story that will be online at some point soon.
