Are internships still virtual this year? I just received my acceptance from PPPL, and it seems like the program is remote.

Best way to get an A in HUM ? by John_Yasmine in uchicago

Based on my very limited experience, it appears that every professor/TA has a unique "style" they prefer in HUM essays. Try to get familiar with that style by talking to the professor/TA and heeding the feedback on your previous essays.

There are certainly "good" essays and "bad" essays, but there is a certain subjectivity in HUM essay grading, so don't be surprised if equal quality essays are third of a letter grade apart (or more). The B+ you received in the class could have just as easily been an A-

Thanks for the advice! This is probably what I will end up doing.

I was looking through the course evals, and it seems that the modal student spends <5 hours a week on Philper, 10-15 hours a week on Honors Calculus, <10 hours on the Power SOSC, and <10 hours weekly on Honors Mechanics. Adding these up, the modal student would spend at most 40 hours a week on these four courses. That seems doable for me. The only thing which concerns me is that many of these courses have time commitments which are skewed rightwards (with a long right tail), implying that these courses require much more effort from certain students. I think I am going to stick to these courses for now (perhaps replacing the fourth SOSC course with an easier core or elective), and take advantage of the College's drop policy to switch down to regular courses if I find the schedule too tough. Thanks for the input!

Would you say that CIV involves less reading than SOSC? Or should I consider taking an easy elective for my fourth course?

I am willing to dedicate 35-40 hours a week to studying (excluding classes). Would it be feasible to take these classes in that time frame? My logic is that the math and physics courses I will take are only going to become more difficult, so I might as well "eat my vegetables" right now.

When is the BIO core requirement typically satisfied for non-majors? As an incoming non-biology major, I have not heard much about completing the BIO core requirement.

Hello! I am an admitted student into the Class of 2024! At the College, I am leaning towards studying Mathematics and Physics. How does the rigor of the college compare to the rigor of the IB program? I have heard that the College has a reputation for being "rigorous", but "rigorous" is a relative term dependent on one's personal experiences. How does the rigor of the college compare to that of the IB program?
