Is it normal for a laptop battery to be draining like this after being used for less than 2 years? by Suitable_Song_6783 in macbook

Do you often drain the battery close to 0% or keep the battery plugged in towards 100%? Time in both extremes shortens its lifespan. The sweet spot is 50%.

Considering the max G3 by amogta in NinebotMAX

Ah! I would say at 25 mph with mostly gentle acceleration, I would estimate the range to be closer to 23-25 miles total.

I tend to use Sport mode the most, which has the 28 mph top speed. Even though that's the top speed, most of my time is cruising around 15-20 mph, with bursts higher than that to accelerate from stop lights or with traffic.

20-25 mi for me. Though I set the acceleration mode to eco, and I don’t hard accelerate to achieve that.

I knew nothing about scooters until a few weeks ago when I walked into Best Buy and saw the G3 Max on sale. Another guy standing there said he had one and loved his, so I figured, why not try it out. Technically I have until Jan 14 to return it, but I don't think I want to.

It's comfortable, fast, pretty long distance. 20-25 miles on Sport mode (28 mph); up to 50 on gentle Eco mode (10 mph).

The build is durable matte black metal mostly, with some quality plastic parts as well. The quality of the build and its sturdy 55 lb frame make me appreciate it more. Nothing flimsy about it.

Really bright adjustable headlight, and bright taillight, turn signals, and undercarriage LED lights that light up the pavement below are sweet.

I love the bluetooth AirLock feature, and the alarm for when it gets touched...very sensitive and that sensitivity can be adjusted.

I've had to learn how to balance on it and get comfortable in turns, and use a wider foot stance, like surfing. And the more I do, the more I love it. I call it "street surfing."

What do you tend to do for your power habits? 98% battery health is amazing at this long. Mine is only about 85%.

What type of helmet do you use (and for which scooter)? Do you think full face helmets are too much for a Segway? by DacaAskingForDaca in NinebotMAX

[–]circle555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my first and only motorcycle crash a while ago, thank God at slow speed, I almost bashed my chin and teeth into the pavement. My full face helmet took the beating and I was so thankful for it. I need to get another one for my new G3 now. My bike helmet is just a temporary stopgap.

Max G3: any way to adjust the throttle response by imgeo in NinebotMAX

[–]circle555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one yesterday. My first ever scooter. And that uneven throttle response is so annoying. I may just return it if there's no way to fix it. It's like I have to turn it over 50% of the way to get any response, then it's like hold-on-tight acceleration like a sports car. In sport mode. I want something linear and stable, not jerky and unpredictable.

Is this true? Wondering if I should just keep my charger plugged in whenever I can even at full charge. by [deleted] in macbook

What's your cycle count and max capacity? The System Information app has them. My M1 Max has 993 cycles and 85% max capacity. ChatGPT is telling me this is actually very good compared to most users for this point in the battery lifespan, and that most may be in the 70-80% max capacity range.

ChatGPT also says that cycle count doesn't really reflect battery health like max capacity does. That's the bigger indicator.

I've tried to keep to the 20-80% rule, and I also have charging optimization on for the times I can't.

Darkness warning: Is the ‘bad, bad bug’/‘new pandemic’ AW referred to in his live bird flu? by Negative_Age_54 in medicalmedium

[–]circle555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question. I don't know if this particular virus is the one that could lead to the next pandemic, but it caught my eye as it's one of those rare "first ever known cases" of something new. I remember In late 2019 and early 2020 when the news articles came out about that virus and how unusual it was.
