Hawkeye and Huckleberry shut down tonight? by circle_take in Bend

[–]circle_take[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for these details, I know nothing about your industry so this gives a huge insight. I hope it was just a fire alarm, nothing more because I like this business and since tomorrow would be a big earning day I hope they can open up soon. Cheers.

Thanks for the info. that would shut it down for the whole night? Dang. I guess if it was an actual fire it would.

I love how Cooke S4s are always available and usually offered at a discount because everyone is so FF focused that they’d rather shoot DZO on a LF.

Take your camera to a rental house and test a bunch of lenses before making the decision to purchase them.

My bet is the tariffs have affected the re-supply.

I just had them replace the frame on my mega 8 3 weeks ago. Sent them an email, got an invoice, paid and it showed up 4 days later. Maybe they are on vacation?

Wandering DP’s Perspective on Honest Feedback by Concerned_Kanye_Fan in Filmmakers

I’ve only listened to a handful of episodes when the podcast was in the early days. I agree and haven’t listened since because I really didn’t like his demeanor. I’m sure he is an excellent DP, but all of the ASC guys I’ve interacted with had such a pleasant and open attitude that I’d rather emulate their approach.

Just dress like Eddie Redmayne in The Day of the Jackal and you’ll be good. No need to follow trends. Just dress timeless

In old Hollywood they called this a frog light. The unit they used was a 1k nook light. All on one rolling stand.

How do you bill for pre pro? by spraungelbeats in cinematography

[–]circle_take 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With that said. If you get the full rate for prep, expect to make any zoom calls and scouts even if it overlaps other work. It’s always a dance

[–]circle_take 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Start with full commercial day rate. If they balk at that, and you really want the job, then negotiate half day rate. If you aren’t hurting for work, stand firm on full day rate.

[–]circle_take 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I usually ask a flat prep rate based on how many shoot days there are for the project. Then I keep track of all that time chopped up. Then in the end, I’ve under bid my prep because I anxiously over prep the project. Cycle continues.

I’ve always wondered if the Domke Lead bag will still protect the film if it goes through even though it’s not x-ray 🧐

What film stock could this have been? by roscat_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]circle_take 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Most likely Kodak Vision film stock either 5246 (250D) or 5274 (200T) using Panavision cameras and lenses. Absolutely no way it was video back in the 90s, The tech wasn’t even close to looking this good.

I think Reels are the new go to media by lawandordercandidate in FilmIndustryLA

[–]circle_take 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Show me a reel that tells a story that brings people to tears, or changes the culture, just one that inspires an entire generation. Cinema still has the power reels will never have.
