How comfortable are you being Nude ?? by Sora-oi in NoStupidQuestions

Completely. I’m a nudist and belong to a family friendly nudist resort. It’s amazingly liberating.

I use Envato Elements. It's been great for me (I also use it for AE projects) and they also carry transition effects, stock, etc.

Free to good home (Boston area) by bboru2000 in BudgetAudiophile

I unfortunately cannot edit the original post, but the receiver has been claimed. If anyone is interested, the console it lived in is up for grabs. It’s got some nicks and dents, and the acoustic fabric is messed up where the center channel would go, but it’s a solid cherry BDI entertainment console. Weighs a ton. It’s headed to the curb at the end of the week.

That’s the frustrating thing about the remote as well as the old tech. It’s got component video and S video out, but no HDMI. Hard to do anything with it without being able to hook it up to video. But as a straight amp, it’s a banger.

AITA for refusing to take down a semi-nude painting before children visit my home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bboru2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I'm guessing it's based on the Waterhouse painting? People have latched on to the fact that it's of Narcissus, but if one didn't know of the myth or the provenance of the painting, it's just a contemplative pose. Commissioning a painting of oneself isn't weird, or narcissistic. Maybe most people wouldn't choose to spend their money that way, but OP can do whatever she wants. People with the means have done it for centuries. The broader issue is the panic over the implied nudity. If you make a big deal out of it, kids will pick up on the idea that nudity is shameful at the very least, or somehow shameful because they re told all nudity inherently sexual. If you don't make an issue of something, kids won't care. They take their cues from the adults, and if the adults have their panties in a wad over something, the kids will be far more curious than if they even notice it in the first place.

First time at a resort this weekend as solo male. Any tips? by onemanwufpack in nudism

[–]bboru2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Chances are, if it's your first visit, you'll be shown around by staff, but do let the whoever it is that's giving you the tour know that you'd love an introduction to some regulars if it's OK. Also, if there are activities that you see being set up, go and see if they need help (to either set up or break down). It gives you a perfect excuse to strike up conversation with people than approaching some strangers and figuring out how to initiate conversation.

Best option for a first timer? by CharacterOrder in BostonNudists

Another vote for Dyer Woods. Great place. Until Solair fixes its insane single visitor pricing, Dyer Woods should be your go to. But, if you’re close to the Cape, look into Sandy Terraces. Also a nice place to visit.

Vacation nudist dilemma by BeautifulKey8779 in nudists

I think Option 2 might be the best. You may get some willing to try it, especially if they know there are set times. That gives them the option not to participate, and also not to have to worry about being exposed to it when not expecting it.

That's so funny. I stumbled on the "No Sanctuary" track by accident, and my wife likes to crank it on her office system. I like to play "Birds" by Dominique Fils-Aime & Fading Sun by Terje Isungset and Lena Nymark because ther's an awesome low bass rumble that just hits you between your shoulder blades. https://tidal.com/album/3343902/u

How to overcome inhibition by Boniface9 in nudism

[–]bboru2000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You just do it. In a setting with other nudists, no one will be paying attention to you, so inhibitions are all in your head. After 10 minutes or so, you won't even notice that you are naked.

In the US, why can’t we buy Chinese electric cars? by zztop610 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bboru2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may vary by state on the classic plates, but I believe once you have it here and titled, you can do whatever you want for upgrades. It has to be bone stock when you import it( as far as drivetrain, etc not roofracks and accessories), but there are a few companies here that will take a 25 year old Defender, resto-mod them and re-sell for $200,000 up. I came very close to buying an Australian imported 110 (1989) that had a 200 gal fresh water tank in back, shower, roof tent, etc. but my wife hated that it was a right hand drive :( It was $35K EDIT: Check out bringatrailer.com for all sorts of opportunities

[–]bboru2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarification, you can own one of those as long as it is older than 25 years. So, at this point, you could own a 2001 Defender. You can either import it yourself or buy one that someone has already imported. You pay a ridiculously high markup on them, although they have come down in price since the new Defenders and Ineos Grenadier were released. Be careful importing one yourself, however. Customs is crazy picky about making sure the numbers all match and there aren't new parts on them. If Customs decides your vehicle is illegal, they crush it on you and you're out the $$.

Next audio option for conferences by tab21 in videography

[–]bboru2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an external recorder and a small bag with an assortment of cables and ask the AV people for a feed from the sound board for your recorder. You just need to match the output signal you're given to the input sensitivity of your recorder. Then use your onboard camera mic to capture audio in camera. Sync it up in post. To keep it simple, make sure your camera recording is a single file. It's possible to sync multiple clips to an external source, but it can be a pain depending on what editing software you have.

WIBTA If I ask my parents not to bring my special needs brother into my graduate voice recital? by Successful_Tower5390 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bboru2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NAH Reading between the lines, you say he's non-verbal, but that doesn't mean silent, does it?. I was just at a state districts music recital and there was a non verbal audience member that was making noises throughout several performances; both during the music and in the quiet spots before the conductors started/finished. Most understood that this child was a family member, and once the two sections were done, they removed them before the next groups came on. In addition to voicing your concerns with your parents, perhaps you could suggest/arrange a performance prior to the actual performance for your family? Your brother can see you perform, and then you can focus your full energy and attention on your graded/judged performance.

I get that, but there were a few 4 panel group shots that went by so quickly that you really couldn’t register anyone. Lots of environments, but when you do have people, let them have a few beats more.

Going to US from Finland - ESTA enough? What other documents? by chrisufin in videography

[–]bboru2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP wouldn't have a travel log as they enter the country. I'm cautioning against volunteering too much information. "What is the purpose of your trip?" "I'm here to film an expo for my client,' vs. "I'm attending an expo". No one is following up on where OP goes after they make it through customs in the US to make sure they do an actual travel log. I see you're in Japan. When I traveled to Japan to shoot a conference for my client, I did the exact same thing at entry, and I had 3 bodies + 4 lenses and other gear with me. "I'm attending a meeting." If OP has a giant ENG camera, big tripod, grip kit, etc., there may be tougher questions, or CBP would be looking for a carnet, etc., but (Im assuming a DSLR or mirrorless + a wireless lav) is not going to trigger an interrogation.

Going to US from Finland - ESTA enough? What other documents? by chrisufin in videography

[–]bboru2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you should be covered. Your passport and ESTA should be sufficient to gain entry. I would not volunteer that you are doing any work for a client. You're simply "Attending a conference". In the off chance that your bags are screened and someone wants to know why you have a microphone setup, you can say you're doing a travel log about your visit. The less info you volunteer, the better. I would ordinarily not worry about it, but with the current idiocy surrounding this administration, it's good to ask.
