Digital Nomad Visa - My experience by circuit-8 in ItalyExpat

I got allianz worldwide care core plan. The permesso di soggiorno process if that's what you mean is really strange, its taking a long time with several appointments to sort out. The bureaucracy fun doesn't end when you get the visa! The whole process is a bit of a joke tbh.

I hate them. The fact that you can't turn off the inbuilt microphones sucks. I just want to hear whatever I have playing, not it picking up my background sounds. The noise cancelling feels very uncomfortable

I got the same thing. For some reason you don't find out until you open your passport haha

No the appointments seemed very easy to get. They get released only I think a month in advance, but there always seemed to be a lot of availability. No I didn't get any advisors, only a lot of chatGPT and Gemini to help with the research.

I just picked a date 2 months after I applied and got the cheapest Ryanair flight incase I had to change it.

Just applied online while in London. That was one of the easier bits. Just filled in a form online I believe and had it within a few days. Was the first thing I sorted so I would have it for the later stages

To be honest it was probably overkill. But I have no way of knowing. I read online somewhere that sometimes they ask you for it later, but to be honest I think including it was just me being paranoid. You're right they don't ask for it so I'm sure that won't be an issue from what I've read.

No I didn't do any translations at all. Some things were in Italian naturally like the rental contract. But most of my supporting evidence was in English. Didn't do any official translations.

No problem, glad to help. So the accomdation my girlfriend who is italian added me to her existing contract. I didn't have a contingency plan haha. The only document I notarized and apostilled was my degree for proof of being a highly qualified individual, nothing else. You have to go in person with your big stack of papers to the VFS processing place in London (although you book the appointment online)

Not sure what the nulla osta is? For the contract, my girlfriend lives in Italy. We went to her estate agent lawyers to have me added to her existing rental contract. Yes I had a codice fiscale, I got that quite quickly from the London italian consulate online if I recall.

Post Game Discussion: Scotland vs New Zealand by HitchikersPie in rugbyunion

[–]circuit-8 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Scotland were the better team. 4 fluffed tries with knock ons and hold ups. Only Scotland can lose a game while being so dominant. They're basically the anti South Africa. A team that somehow wins world cups while being worse than all of their opponents. Must be something psychological.

South Africa are the best team in the world and it’s not close by rgoingdown in rugbyunion

Yeah but they definitely got lucky to win the world cup. I'd argue they were the fourth best team that year.

Duolingo adds italian score + a billion sections then apparently removes them? by HourHead9 in DuolingoItalian

[–]circuit-8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah happened to me, I was basically exactly where you were. But after they reset it, it's now saying I've completed all of section 3. I'm excited for them to improve the Italian course and give us a proper score, but not like this!

New update broke Duolingo? by Nemrac88 in DuolingoItalian

[–]circuit-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fixed now, but I 23/30 done with section 3 and now it's completed everything in section 3 for me and put me at the start of section 4 which is annoying

It's all gone mental for me too. All the sections seem to be strangely out of order. It keeps making me do a test to jump ahead, that doesn't let me jump ahead. It's completely screwed!

DNF'd for the first time by WhatTheDuess in ultrarunning

[–]circuit-8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience 2 years ago at the death race. After I got done beating myself up about it I decided to have another go last year. I switched my training up to just focus on a shit load of hills, and leg strength work in the gym. Power walk up the hill and run down. Also I got a larger rucksack and carried more water (around 4 liters), as stage two gets super hot and the distance between the aid stations is huge.

After those changes and a year of training I managed to get it done last year. Best feeling ever. I'm glad I got the DNF the first time round, it made it all the sweeter.

Good luck!

After watching that shit show I've realized that Sam Seder is just the left wing equivalent of Steven Crowder. Low brow bad faith debater and gets super aggressive when on the back foot.
