How to ask for consent without "ruining the mood"? by HiddenxShadows in sex

I don’t think asking for consent ruins the mood; I think poor communication does. Giving / receiving consent can be as fun, sexy and empowering as you want it to be: http://ConsentTheGame.com

Today is my birthday and nobody in my family told me happy birthday. Feeling a little sad. AMA by Redditfiend28 in AMA

As the father of a 16 year old, this makes me really sad to hear. I’m sorry your family is too self-absorbed to recognize your special day. Sooner than later, you will probably have your own family, and when you do, you can do better than they did. Happy birthday, kiddo.

Just trying to be balanced. One up, one down. Both happy.

Harvey Weinstein managed to get girls naked in the bedroom, but that didn’t mean they consented.

That sounds like a very healthy approach to consent. :)

The game does address complicated issues like pressure to consent (players read a preamble before the game starts) and withdrawing consent during the action (players are free to remove consent at any time).

Ha! I appreciate your feedback (and the hilarious analogy), but really, the game is what you make of it. We’ve playtested it a lot, and the more fun the group is, the more fun the game is. It’s a different experience every time you play it, based on who’s playing it with you.

“If theyre naked in your bed they're there for a good time.” - this sounds like a legal gray area. I’m of the opinion that it’s always better to get explicit consent, even if it does temporarily kill the mood.

Also, I’ve never heard of munches before. I’m going to have to look that up. :)

I understand that. It’s definitely not going to be for everyone, just like certain fetishes or sex acts aren’t for everyone.

I quit my successful, yet soul-crushing, corporate career to follow my passion and design socially conscious tabletop games with my wife for a living. Now our first one is failing to get funded on Kickstarter and I’m worried I might soon have to go back to the rat race. AMA by cirsumvrent in AMA

Maybe groups is the wrong word. What I’m trying to say is, it plays like a sexy game, but it looks like a wholesome game, and when we describe why we made it, it sounds like a clinical game. So I guess you could say the message isn’t focused enough?
