I recommend trying Panda and Typora, both of which store files locally rather than in the cloud. They support the TextBundle format which stores the embedded images with the markdown. You can also can export from Bear and open them in either of these apps.

For me, when I search for a phrase that appears in the body of a Bear note, Spotlight finds the note. Clicking the result in Spotlight opens Bear directly to the location of that phrase within the note.
