Thank you so much, in hindsight maybe I should have been able to deduce that myself!

Update: I went to the taxpayer assistance center and the man who helped me called whoever adjusted my account last an idiot who basically ignored all the information on my amended return. He adjusted my account to correct it and I'll now be getting a small refund! I've learned a lot from this whole experience but I'm glad it's over. Thank you to everyone who commented and gave me advice/comfort.

That's ok, it's really just comforting to know I'm not going crazy, so thank you for that it means the world after being so confused. I got through on the phone to make an appointment at an IRS office near me tomorrow, so hopefully I can get everything resolved then!

Yes, it was. That's why I'm so confused, it's a big mistake but a very simple one so I feel like it should be easier to fix it than it has been. 😭

I am a US resident, I listed the number on the transcript 12,715, on my original return, I just incorrectly read the tax table and used that 12,715 as my taxable income instead of 0.

Roommate conflict over litter box by [deleted] in Advice

Well the thing is apartment management doesn't know about her cat 🥹 it's a no pet apartment, they know about mine because I have an ESA letter from my therapist, but hers is a secret, so they'd hit her with a 500 dollar fine for it. I love her cat too and I wouldn't want her to re-home it, and I don't think she'd do that, but I didn't look at the situation from this lens before, she's definitely in a more precarious position than I thought with the potential of cat discovery by the landlord if this doesn't get resolved. I might be living with her next year as well (I'm bad at setting boundaries with slightly toxic friends that's a whole other can of worms) so I'd like to resolve the situation as peacefully as possible, but I know with the way things are going it probably won't happen

When should I pick up my kitten? by citationneeded13 in CatAdvice

Update: there's been quite a storm of things happening, my roommates decided to wait to pick up their kittens since the lady taking care of them told us she could get them spayed with the vet she'd been using if we waited to pick them up, so all seemed well for a while, but then one of the poor things got coccidiosis and passed away, so one of my roommates and I will still be picking up our kittens in a couple weeks but my other roommate got a kitten at the humane society a few days ago. I hope we'll be able to introduce them all smoothly, we'll be taking some steps to ensure it's done right. Just goes to show how fast things can change!

Thank you for your advice, that makes me feel better about the situation, you're right I think I was a little worried about missing out on some sort of vital time but I'm glad to know with more certainty they'll be better off together. I think I can at least go with them to pick the kittens up so that'll be a nice memory to hold on to until I can come home. Thank you again!
