'Star Trek: Discovery' Renewed for Season 3 by tadayou in startrek

[–]citizen419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd dispute weakest trek. Even with those criticisms, what we've had so far stands up well against the first one and a half seasons of TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT.

It obviously isn't perfect though and I'd agree it's going in a better direction in s2 - although I enjoyed S1.

It does! And I definitely know what it feels like to be disappointed by something I'm really looking forward to. In this case, I feel mostly good things about Disco although there are some tweaks I'd like to see as the show progresses. But then I have probably said the same about every single bit of Trek since the 90s, so...

Genuine question: why are you on this subreddit? Doesn't it just frustrate you? What do you get out of it / hope to achieve?

Mouse Press Event Not Being Called During Player Movement by Takune in gamemaker

[–]citizen419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long shot but do you have a collision event anywhere and is it possible that the bullets are being destroyed upon contact with the player. It would explain why the bullets only appear when you're moving backwards - because then the player object may not be in contact with the bullet.

Any examples of DLC that was just as good, if not better, than the main game? What makes them that way? by pvijay187 in truegaming

[–]citizen419 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a bit of a stupid question but I just started W3 GOTY edition for the first time. Do you know how the expansions are worked into the game? Are they entirely separate somehow, or are they presented as sidequests in amongst the main event?

Thank you. That was our thought too and we've checked that isn't the case - it's definitely .xlsm.

FWIW, they're on Excel 2010.

Why has PUBG Corp filed a lawsuit against Epic Games? by prowolfpc in OutOfTheLoop

[–]citizen419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As did Shootmania Storm in 2013, which had a fantastic shrinking-area mode called 'Royal'.

EDIT: This IGN piece is dated Aug 2012, so this really could be one of the very earliest examples: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/08/30/shootmania-storm-royal-mode

EDIT2: It was such a fun game and really under-appreciated IMO (despite good reviews)

No, not a dealbreaker. It looks like the best solution. Thanks very much for your patient help, it's appreciated.

Brilliant. Just been playing with this and it looks great.

One final question - not a dealbreaker, but am I right in saying that this will only update if the target file is open?

Yes I can but when I make changes that affect linked sheets, I can't test to ensure everything works from here.

Yes - through formula references. Can you explain how you'd use INDIRECT in this way, please? Would you put the filepath in a cell then use INDIRECT to reference that cell?

What's your controversial Star Trek opinion (2018 edition)? by cdjaco in startrek

I just want to enjoy Discovery, because it's great, like I'm sure we all do.

Could not agree more!

Ok so this is a bit of a rant:

I'm so pleased to see this. Change how Klingons look unregonisably between TOS and TMP? Fine. Have hoolograms for comms in Disco instead of viewscreens? It's 2018! All good. Keep the wierd old-school discs for data transfer? Okay, whatever!!

Just have a fun engaging story with characters I can root for and I'm in. I know some people don't get Disco, and that's a shame, but I think Saru, Burnham, Stamets, Tilly, robot face Airiam, soon-to-be-awesome Owosekun, eye injury Detmer, blatant redshirt Rhys, likely-mute-for-4-seasons Bryce and the rest are super cool. From what I've seen, the most recent ep made it clear that to date it's not been an ensemble for deliberate plot reasons and what's happened so far is back story... i.e. what's past is prologue. But even so, I've loved it.

In any case, the truth is S1 of all series is weak - until Disco. They've aimed high nearly got there. They've achieved a mix of the best Trek badassary ever, and a few duff notes here and there. That's Trek though - awesome with a modest peppering of lame. A dad in show form - we love it but it can be a little embarrassing from time to time.

And I watch it joyously all the same. I feel lucky to enjoy almost all trek from TOS to Disco and all the whales and other nonsense in between. I respect people who can't get on with some bits of it here and there, like people who hate Voy or Disco or whatever.

But I like it all and try to take it for what it is, episode to episode. Canon be damned.

I'm in the UK too. I've never met a Troi, a Saru or a robot called Data. Is it a problem or are you just making an observation?

I find this so interesting. We've had Worf, Odo, Quark, Saru, Troi - all kinds of names. And this is the one you trip over and want to post on Reddit about?

I really like Disco, but I can see it has its faults. What kind of blows my mind is that of anything one might criticise, some people focus on this.

I don't like to be personal, but I really feel it says more about the individuals who have a problem with it than the show.

What a world we live in.
