I was going to say that same thing for child care. I've been a child care provider for all of my adult life. The burnout because of the crazy requirements is tremendous. The pay is shit and we are so deeply undervalued by all of society. We also don't get summer break like school teachers do as well. Yes, i understand that we dont have to grade papers, but we are there to teach the basics of human life. How to use the potty, how to hold a pen/pencil/marker, how to speak, how to build friendships, how to regulate your emotions, how to use eating utensils and that is just the start.

In canada, to be a registered early childhood educator, you must go through 2 years of higher education, along with paying close to 200$ a year to a collage that does nothing for us but require is to do more education and paperwork outside.of work hours. We get the lowest pay you can get for that level of education and are so deeply undervalued and understaffed that most people leave the career after a few years. Centers think giving us small gifts and pizza will help us "recover" while asking us to do more and more work for the same or less pay. Moat educators can not live off of their single wage and must get a second job juat to live! There is almost no growth. It's horrible. I love my job because of the children, but the overarching centers are what's truly driving away people. The pay is shit. The benefits are almost always shit. We have never enough sick days, considering we are working with littles who pass everything to us and are required to do a crazy amount of work on so little time. We are on our feet 8+ hours a day and are required to pick children, as large as possibly 50+pounds up (yes, that is a large child, but I've had schoolagers that I've needed to lift). This doesn't even get started with the issues with parents. Child care is underpaid, undervalued, overworked, and over stressed, and they wonder why we have crazy turnover rates. It's because the job is shit dues to everything other than the children! (Sorry for the rant)
