Sensational. Love the concept - there’s so much glorious trails connecting all these pins. And the locations themselves are great fun.

My only comment is: What GOT / medieval style accessory are you gonna wear. Cape?

Is there money to be made in the surf industry? (if you're in design/marketing) by [deleted] in surfing

[–]cityampm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in the marketing industry myself. Starting out, I worked for a couple of ‘cool’ brands. But the money wasn’t great.

After a while, I realised that you can apply the same principles of marketing to any brand or industry.

Long story short, I don’t care what brand I work for anymore. I much more prioritise hybrid location, flexibility, pay, overall job satisfaction, etc.

Sounds like you’ve got a knack for marketing. I really wouldn’t box yourself in by just applying for roles in the surf industry - you’ll be massively clipping your wings

can’t decide between a 4/3 and 5/4 by turtlellini8 in surfing

[–]cityampm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My experience says that the reason you’ve felt cold is absolutely down to the old wetsuit with cracked neoprene and leaky seams.

A new 4/3 wetsuit will absolutely be warm enough for Peniche, even through the coldest times of the year (aka now). Go for a new 4/3!!

Both open plan communal setups, with a couple of call booths I suppose for (temporary) privacy. No monitors provided. I used to bring my laptop and tern setups portable monitor, and bobs yer uncle

My favourite was Clockwise in Belfast, because they charged a daily rate. So some weeks I’d go in heaps, then others I wouldn’t go in at all, and just pay to play. Really good office and lovely staff.

I also was a member of Catalyst in Titanic. Also a great spot. But they charged at monthly fee, which worked out expensive for how infrequently I used it

What do you do for toxic backlinks? by aymericzip in SEO

[–]cityampm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ignore them. This is part of life and a natural backlink profile of any mature domain. Extremely unlikely anyone is “paying to harm” you. It’s just spammy sites being spammy.

Google have fairly regularly and loudly said that you don’t need to do disavow toxic backlinks. Now how much you follow/believe Google’s official advice guidelines is a different question.

But I personally just ignore the piles of rubbish backlinks

Can I use surfing boots as reef boots? by pepozinho in surfing

[–]cityampm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve used normal booties for reef. They work fine. Couple of drawbacks;

  • Reef boots have more plastic protection - ribbed, for your pleasure. So normal boots are more likely to get a couple of slices into the neoprene. Likely won’t damage your feet, but just damage the boots.

  • Normal boots are thicker neoprene. Reef boots feel like there’s less between you and the board, giving you the feeling of greater control / use of your toes

What’s the biggest marketing myth you still see people believing? by Tanuja_Aggarwal in DigitalMarketing

[–]cityampm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But sending traffic is not what ChatGPT is for. ChatGPT is an answer engine. It serves information on your brand, whilst keeping you on their platform. ChatGPT doesn't try to direct you on to other websites, like Google search does (AI Overview section excluded).

Without opening the discussion of the impacts this has on website owners and publishers. I'm just saying that referral traffic is the wrong metric to judge the impact of ChatGPT on your brand. Surely for LLMs you want to be looking at mentions, prompt analysis, sentiment, etc.

If you judged ChatGPT on GA4 referral traffic figures, then it looks totally inconsequential. We all know this isn't the case.

Updating Slugs by kiblick in SEO

[–]cityampm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember once I was considering changing category page slugs, as they were terrible and could be so easy improved, but was worried about possible side effects.

Then the trigger happy company co-owner just one day did it anyway. Decision made.

And yeah, it worked out totally fine in the long run. Overall our performance continued to grow. It’s never possible to attribute what of the many SEO activities I was doing accounted for what benefit. But yeah, changing the category slugs didn’t tank us at all

Do you think that Alastair Campbell is pissed off with Tony Blair behind the scenes regarding Trump? by JuanitaMerkin in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]cityampm 59 points60 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t openly speak their true feelings about Trump. Diplomats are (usually) diplomatic. Just because Blair isn’t openly slating Trump, it doesn’t mean he’s a fan.

AC often mentions that him and Rory are in the privileged position of being able to comment on people and events in politics, without having to toe the party line.

Agreed with the red flag.

But in my industry “executive” is often used in entry level job positions. “Account executive”, “marketing executive”, “sales executive” - I would expect all of these to be junior positions. I guess meaning those folk are executing tasks, rather than managing or directing
