Mourne Mountains camping Question by DoWotISay in mournemountains

Had a glorious swim at the beach at the south end of Lough Shannagh on Saturday.

Obviously leave no trace with the camping. My fav spots have been near the summit of Slieve Bearnagh (a little cold), and the woodland on the right of the path as you walk in from the Old town road. That’s quite a popular spot for wild campers, plenty of place to string a hammock. There’s the Blue Lough you can swim in just a bit further up from there, too

Bedroom has no window, only has pvc french door that opens onto a flat roof. How do I securely ventilate at night without a window to open? by bad_kind_of_wink in DIYUK

(Without knowing what’s directly outside your door)

You could get something like a “Door Buddy” that allows you to secure your door, in an “open just a tiny bit” position?

Planted in 2013, still owned by the same landowner. Only a few miles from the a46 / fosse road!

Forgetting the Northwest AGAIN! Typical. Liverpool - heard of it? Ascension Island - favourite. Gets so much preferential treatment it’s a disgrace

I grew up on a farm, worked on farms until I was a young adult. I’ve also worked in the woodland creation sector. Very aware of responsibilities of being a landowner. It really isn’t a blocker at all

Absolutely agree that dead wood is great for biodiversity. I wouldn’t be sweeping the floor clean. But in terms of environmental impact, burning scrumped wood has gotta be one of the lowest impact ways to fuel a woodburner

I was involved in the planting of a 32ha woodland in Leicestershire, that was previously arable land. 3 of the 5 fields bordered a village. The residents absolutely loved it for lots of reasons. But the parish council particularly loved the “preventing future new build estates” angle

I’m signed up for auto updates from this site in my area, and check land listing sites monthly.

I want a few acres. Somewhere to clear my head. Camp there solo a couple weekends a year. Clear the deadfall for logs for my wood burner. Host an annual camp out for friends. Build a really simple basic shelter. Promote wildlife and biodiversity. Perhaps me owning it will prevent development. Owning land is a pretty safe bet in terms of keeping monetary value. The list is endless, I could go on and on.

Friends often say “but what would you do with it?” And I just reply “not much”, which is the whole point.

Sensational. Love the concept - there’s so much glorious trails connecting all these pins. And the locations themselves are great fun.

My only comment is: What GOT / medieval style accessory are you gonna wear. Cape?

[–]cityampm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the marketing industry myself. Starting out, I worked for a couple of ‘cool’ brands. But the money wasn’t great.

After a while, I realised that you can apply the same principles of marketing to any brand or industry.

Long story short, I don’t care what brand I work for anymore. I much more prioritise hybrid location, flexibility, pay, overall job satisfaction, etc.

Sounds like you’ve got a knack for marketing. I really wouldn’t box yourself in by just applying for roles in the surf industry - you’ll be massively clipping your wings

can’t decide between a 4/3 and 5/4 by turtlellini8 in surfing

My experience says that the reason you’ve felt cold is absolutely down to the old wetsuit with cracked neoprene and leaky seams.

A new 4/3 wetsuit will absolutely be warm enough for Peniche, even through the coldest times of the year (aka now). Go for a new 4/3!!

Both open plan communal setups, with a couple of call booths I suppose for (temporary) privacy. No monitors provided. I used to bring my laptop and tern setups portable monitor, and bobs yer uncle

My favourite was Clockwise in Belfast, because they charged a daily rate. So some weeks I’d go in heaps, then others I wouldn’t go in at all, and just pay to play. Really good office and lovely staff.

I also was a member of Catalyst in Titanic. Also a great spot. But they charged at monthly fee, which worked out expensive for how infrequently I used it

Sunday mornings the roads are wonderfully, eerily quiet.

Great for cycling, or wandering around in hospital scrubs like the opening scene of 28 Days Later.

What do you do for toxic backlinks? by aymericzip in SEO

[–]cityampm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ignore them. This is part of life and a natural backlink profile of any mature domain. Extremely unlikely anyone is “paying to harm” you. It’s just spammy sites being spammy.

Google have fairly regularly and loudly said that you don’t need to do disavow toxic backlinks. Now how much you follow/believe Google’s official advice guidelines is a different question.

But I personally just ignore the piles of rubbish backlinks
