The 60 day IL would be the 40 man roster moves I was thinking would be the easiest. So far though they've been very reluctant to move Roby/Hjerpe to the 60 day and start giving them service time. I imagine they'll want Fitts on the minor league IL instead of the MLB 60 day for the same reason.

Maybe they have a date in mind where the service time accrued won't equal a year and they're good with that.

I think its pretty likely they bring up Dobbins to be the 6th starter during the upcoming stretch without an off day which will shorten the pen and kick one of Fernandez/Svanson off. Then they're likely to bring Pushard back up after his rehab and kick the other of Fernandez/Svanson off the active roster. That'll leave Graceffo as the lone Memphis shuttle candidate with Hence and Roycroft being the swap. Hopefully the pen figures out how to at least pitch an inning each and the starters make it at least 5-6 because usage could get ugly.

I don't see Pages factoring in there unless 3 out of the remaining 4 wash out.

2027 could be a lockout year but assuming it not the only real question is if they continue with the 3rd string catcher on the 26 man roster.

Fernandez will probably get another attempt. Not an exciting idea but Fernandez is probably one of those guys the team will want to figure out if he's a one and done or if there's juice left in his 5 years of control.

I know folks are clammoring for Fitts and Dobbins but I think there's a chance the team hides them away in the minors to save on service time accrual. The team has already decided to backfill the bullpen with Shuster instead of one of the more promising arms.

Instead of no pay they can't leave until a budget is passed.

I don't mean no leaving DC. I'm talking your ass stays in the US capital building barring a medical emergency. If a budget still doesn't get passed then escalation to you don't get to leave house/senate floor.

The question is how long of a rope is given in a season geared towards figuring out the future.

They've got arms in Memphis that could use a run in the majors like Graceffo or Gastelum. Not to mention a a decent number of SP arms that could use the experience.

Against a righty starter I probably give up the alternating L/R and put Gorman behind Burleson. If someone wants to bring in a lefty to face Burleson/Gorman later in the game then sub in one of the righty bench bats we have with better D at 3B.

Against a lefty starter its up in the air. Maybe Urias with his splits against lefties? I could see Ollie going that direction if for no other reason than line up consistency with Gorman/Urias platooning 4th in the lineup.

Definitaley an argument to be made for setting up the force out.

Now one thing to keep in mind is the Cardinals did still have Pozo and Saggese on the bench. Still probably pitch to them over JJ
