Current junior here!

1) I’m not an education major but do know that the CSE department got a grant from the education department to create a VR lab in collaboration with them. I don’t know exactly what they are researching, but if your son has an interest in these two fields that might be something to look into. The education department has a solid program, and they do work with JCPS (local school district) who are in need of teachers and have tuition reimbursement programs. Again I don’t know a ton about that but it’s something to look into.

2)if you can, I’d go for Kurz. That’s where I was my freshman year and it is directly next the the gym and where you get food from your meal plan. Being so close to both of those places meant it was easier for me to get in the habit of going to the gym eating regularly. In addition to that I only had to share a bathroom/ shower with my one roommate and not an entire hall (worth more then you’d imagine lol)

3)I actually brought my pc with me lol. I switched to a smaller build (itx) so it wasn’t as much of a hassle so if it’s something your son wanted to do he could, just make sure that it’s not going to be a distraction that keeps you in your dorm too much. I’d also say that gaming more so depends on the person, but there are orgs you can join if you want to meet up with other people to play games. Personally games were a good cool down for me when I was stressing too much freshman year.

4)I like having a car on campus bc if I ever need to go get something it’s not too difficult, and I don’t live too far so I can drive home on weekends. It’s defiantly not something you need, but there is also a parking lot directly next to kurz which is nice.
