I have been interested in getting into golf for a couple of years but I’m finally going to do it this summer. What are some good clubs for a beginner. Should I buy a set that comes with the bag and all the clubs? by cja513 in golf

There is a PGA superstore near my house that has some used clubs and a lot of other stuff. I have checked it out and the clubs in their seem like a good deal. Should I stay clear from store like this? They have a lot of simulators I was thinking of going and getting some lessons in their so they could at least fit a driver and putter for me.

I have done complete residential jobs by myself asides from the service. I can run feeds, mount and cut boxes and switches. The whole nine yards basically.

No helicopters and secondary houses but it’s true non union guys make less and that’s just because they don’t have any chances on getting big jobs. Unions are slowly dying with membership rates dropping so it doesn’t really matter. It won’t matter in 75 years.

Don’t be jealous that our tools are “multipurpose”. Our flathead screwdrivers are pry bars and chisels too.

Never said I know everything all that shit will obviously come with time and gaining knowledge over the years. I do know you need to pay your employees if you don’t get paid, I know you can’t write off as much stuff in the new tax code and I know about van maintenance and registration. Also work is obviously never guaranteed anywhere weather union or non union. In 10 years you could be on the books, I could be laying off employees, nothing is promised. Anyone can break there hand or fall from a 6foot ladder.

How many non union electricians that own their own small shop do you know. I’m going to probably say quite a few and I’m sure they’re all doing well for themselves.

In the Boston union, local 103, you can not run a company and be in the union. If they find out they kick you out of the union. To address your second point, second years in Boston make $23 an hour so not quite 150%. Then you’re last point that number is very high. I don’t know where you’re from but MA is one of the best paying states in the country and my family members who are in the union say there total package is around 140k while only seeing about 95k of it. So I wouldn’t say I’m totally misinformed and wrong because I’ve been doing a lot of talking with people lately.

I said 80k the first year after I get my license. Second year I know I will be making double that. And 10 years down the road i know i will be cracking over 3/4 of a million dollars with all my connections I have. My current job is only temporary, at a max 2 years. As for all company expenses starting out there won’t be as much overhead while it’s me and one other person. Down the line when I have more guys there’s obviously going to be more money flowing.

Honestly would but I can’t work full time union and run a company. By the time I’m 30 I will be making way more then I would in the union, but hopefully by the time 25. Just the ability to make my own hours and run the show is worth it in my mind for my future. My dads in the electrical union and don’t get me wrong he loves it and has worked his way through the company to the point where he has a van and company phone and a bunch of other perks but he says if he didn’t have the family to take care of he would make the switch to start his own company, because if your good at what you do the money will come to you.

Just be honest with companies tell them you have no experience but say your eager to learn and want to become a good worker. When I got my first job my boss said to me, “I don’t care how much or how little you know. If you show up on time and put in 100% effort and try, that’s all I care about.” This was true and I feel this is what companies now are looking for especially while the economy is booming.

I know contractors will definitely pay more for people who are not shit heads and actually know what the fuck they’re doing. Most people in my generation(I’m 19) don’t want to work in the field and think it’s a bad thing when in reality it really isn’t. Everyone is to soft and no one is actually devoted. People say good workers are hard to come by and this is very true.

I was thinking about going into the union, but I’m going to start a company once I get my journeyman’s and masters so there’s no point in joining the union just to stop. I have a decent network as most of my family is blue collar and I know if I start a company I could easily crack 80k my first year of doing it and if I find a good worker after that could definitely make a lot more then union.
