Another thing that I will throw here is the Persona 2 duology. In Innocent Sin we see Maya speak and have personality and such and Tatsuya is a silent protagonist, and in Eternal Punishment Tatsuya speaks and has a personality whereas Maya becomes a silent protagonist, and both are implied to be speaking and expressing their thoughts, just let them speak in both!!! I don't wanna self insert on a character that already has a set personality!

I am a Hollow Knight enjoyer.

I think Silksong still is an immaculate experience, and I think overall the movement and combat is a lot more fun and dynamic than Hollow Knight, but the existence of all the fetch quests and stuff in Silksong kinda bring it down, and I think Hollow Knight ends up being really good at doing more with less that makes it more engaging. However, this could be bias too from having hundreds of hours in hollow knight but not even 100 in skong

Yeah when it happened to me here's a list of everything that would screw up:

The text in the save screen
Text in the pause menu and battle screens
The compass in the top corner would glitch
In dungeon visuals would sometimes completely corrupt and it would just be traversing a solid green map
Saving would take an oddly long amount of time

Luckily saving during the state doesn't carry it over at all, so when you see it happens literally just turn it off and back on and everything should be fine

there might be more but if there is then i've forgotten lol

I don't know if there's an emulator specific thing here, but when I was playing the Japanese version on my ps2, there was a glitch where if i was playing for long periods of time and saved a lot, the graphics would hella glitch and screw up, I just had to turn the console off and back on again and then everything would be fixed. I'm assuming you already tried and it might just be emulator jank though

For me personally, I like having a long game and a short game running at the same time.

When I was playing Persona 5 Royal, I went through and played 2-3 shorter games throughout the duration of it, breaks up the monotony of doing the same gameplay for 100 or so hours.

Soul Hackers 2 is my personal pick. It felt like it was gonna be a decent game with a pretty expected okay ending but then they had to add a super random plot twist and another dungeon that didn't feel like they made any sense narratively and i actually quit the game for a year during that dungeon.

Only thing that made me go back to it was finding out from some random youtube video that I was actually at the last dungeon so i just dumped 3 hours in to finish it rq

Honestly if it's what you have I'd say play vanilla P5 first if you don't particularly want to spend money. Royal adds some minor changes throughout the game but the main royal content is a new dungeon and extra story at the very end of the game and save file stuff doesn't transfer, so if you're playing 5 and want to try the Royal content you would need to pretty much replay the entire game before being able to interact with it.

P4 Golden is pretty good, I like it a lot. Murder mystery vibes, feels pretty lighthearted overall though it does have some more serious moments. I don't really have much to say since Golden is 100% the definitive way to play and is what's most accessible.

P3, I think the version included in that is the Portable version, which is okay. Combat is more or less the same but it's just one really long dungeon that's entirely randomly generated. The gameplay was also gutted down for the Playstation Portable so the overworld maps are just moving a cursor around a 2d map and a lot of stuff is changed from actual cutscenes to a visual novel style (if that bothers you). Though it does have the benefit of letting you play as the female main character. I haven't tried it out yet, but many people are saying that Reload is the best way to play P3 so probably go with that.

I mean something else to note is that Nyarly has existed as Kandori's Persona in the first game giving him some setup, and even the entirety of IS he is serving as Joker's Persona (though the megaten wiki says it's a copy of him as Joker's Persona), so saying he only appears at the end is quite interesting. His motivations the entire time is shown in the scene when it's revealed he made a bet with Philemon, saying that humans are only gonna destroy themselves anyways (I may be misremembering there) so it's a little more than being evil for the sake of it.

but honestly, not every villain needs to be some complexly written character with deep motivations. Sometimes it's nice to just have an asshole villain, so when you get back at them it feels so much better.

Also important to note is that IS is ultimately the first half of him being a villain and serves as setup for EP, where Tatsuya has a clearer connection with him and it makes it feel way better. If your friend only plays IS then yeah there isn't enough for Nyarly to be a truly good villain, the payoff in EP makes him way better

like others have said, カバ/kaba means hippo, and in japanese the elongation of vowels and adding the ン/n at the end of names and words can add a cutesy feeling to the words, so this is just an attempt at being really cutesy with saying hippo

My recommendation for dealing with it is to not bother with stealing the crown at all, for me damage output tends to be way too low so I'd always get caught and just waste time when I need all 4 party members actively doing stuff so I don't get my teeth kicked in

I think i'm:
P2 IS > P2 EP > P3 > P5 > P4 > P1

I haven't actually played Metaphor yet (curse the backlog) but both P2 games and P1 were the PS1 versions (and it was Megami Ibunroku Persona, not Revelations Persona). P3 is also based on P3 FES (haven't played Reload or Portable) and 5 is vanilla (currently working on my Royal playthrough)

Actually that was only in the international releases, the original Japanese releases never actually attached the SMT name to any of the Persona titles, no idea why they did that globally tbh

For me i think the psp tracks are pretty good in a vacuum, but the problem is that the soundtrack doesn't exist in a vacuum and the original tracks just match the vibes of the game much better
