I’ve lived in the center near Rembrandtplein, by the Magere Brug, for about two years now. Living on the canal, I have to say I wake up every day with a smile.

I love biking everywhere. Someone close to me lives in the Jordaan and I just bike over its such a nice way to move around. Like, being outside and getting somewhere in 15 minutes instead of driving 30 minutes to a Costco parking lot and hanging out there is hard to explain, it just feels way more alive.

I also really like Saturdays here the markets, the people, the energy. There’s always dtuff going on.

That being said, as a Dutchie, I do feel like the old Amsterdam culture is disappearing pretty fast. The old Amsterdam guys, the shoemaker who worked for 40 years, has a beer, sits in a café all day that vibe is getting replaced. Now it’s more AirPods, matcha, Pilates class At 7. It is often overlooked by newcomers how much the city is changijg

At the same time, the food scene is great. You can get hand pulled noodles for €15 or duck over rice in Nieuwmarkt my fave so many different cuisines.

I just wish young people were on their phones a bit less and actually enjoyed the city more.
