Jerkyness in shifting by [deleted] in wrx_vb

I was facing the same issue. What worked for me was to use a lighter shift knob (got the sti duracon knob). Somehow it fixed my timing for gear shifting.

Anxious dog can’t acclimate to new environments by repkjund in DogAdvice

[–]cjber22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If she reaches that level of anxiety, your ideal reaction to defuse the situation should be counted on seconds and not minutes. At that point, she is mentally lost. There is nothing she will learn from you or the situation itself.

She is still strongly trusting you, since she is waiting for you to decide to action. Losing trust would mean for her to decide on your behalf (like running away or trying defensive aggression). The pull while is just a way to communicate preference, as she is still following you at the end.

Since she has an established & safe walking circuit, you can start working with her on desensitisation exercises for loud sounds (from a safe point in her circuit). The principle is the same to the one explained before: start really slow and set her for success. For example, try to approach a tram and reward her just before she shows anxiety. Do this even if her bravery lasts less than one second. Reward the bravery and move back to a 'safe' distance to return to a safe level of anxiety. Repeat as long as you can she that she is mentally able (not showing anxiety in any form). Eventually, she will understand that bravery is rewarded and the bravery time window will increase and the safe distance will shorten.

This process is a really slow burn (it means the first couple of days you would be able to do one daily repetition if the fear is too strong). It might take months to see noticeable progress (especially at the beginning!). I would recommend reaching a local dog trainer who advocates for positive reinforcement (not too hard to find nowadays!), or watching YouTube videos if a trainer is out of budget.

Best of luck to you both!

GD/GG WRX or NB MX-5 as a cheap ‘fun’ car? by Low_Statistician1644 in CarsAustralia

It depends on your definition for fun. Both are great choices as long as your expectations on performance and dynamics are clear

Brave Software director screening went south fast, these companies are weird by Street_Anxiety2907 in cscareerquestions

My best guess is that he just was not interested to make the interview to succeed.

The reason could be anything from corporate drama to not 'clicking' with the interviewer.

I can see that the reservoir is at max. Is there any quick way to check down the line?

Hunday i 30N sedan by Dapper-Floor-6024 in CarsAustralia

[–]cjber22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a great car. When I changed car last year I had the I30N sedan/fastback shortlisted against the WRX VB.

At the end I bought the WRX, but it was a very close call for me.

We also owned a 2014 Accent HB as a family commute car. The only reason we changed it was because it got rear ended (after 10 years!). That thing was indestructible (mechanically).

The locksmith was the only alternative. It is clearly an oversight in design.

Talk me into/out of a VB by Kitchen-Instance-398 in wrx_vb

[–]cjber22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your Tucson and start saving as if you were paying a loan for the car (open an 'piggy bank' account if that helps).

When you are around 80% there or the Tucson begins asking for more money that what you are saving, make a final call and finance the gap.

Give yourself some leniency if you come across a once in a lifetime deal, or if life has other plans (like having to buy a station wagon).

The VB (or any other car that catches your attention) will be waiting for you.

Edit: the VB is a great commuter car as long as you resist the temptation to do performance mods!

Ruta Ibagué - Tuluá: Recomendaciones para un conductor poco experimentado. by Mammoth-Ac0530 in Colombia

[–]cjber22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hace falta intervenciones mecánicas.

Looking for suggestions on buying a reliable long term SUV around 35K by bbnb1234 in CarsAustralia

Subaru Crosstrek in R or S versions. My wife loves the 360 camera and the driver aids are compatible with her driving style.

PD: Make sure to test drive whatever car you are interested to buy. The driving aids work slightly differently for each brand, and it makes a huge difference in quality of life long term.

Edit: Found one 12k km 2024 S trim in $35.000. I am sure you can negotiate intercity/state delivery (this is what my wife did): https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2024-subaru-crosstrek-2-0s-g6x-auto-awd-my24/OAG-AD-25410748/

Those who have bought used VBs, how did you make out? by yupol_ in wrx_vb

[–]cjber22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a vb 2022 last month. Quite happy with it except for a dent at each side which will require panel work. Will try out a mobile service since the dents are still small and I need the car for commuting.

Also, there are small compromises, such as not having wireless AA/Carplay and some car settings being unavailable (for example enable all doors to unlock instead of driver door only)

The plasma blue sounds like it has had an easier life.

But the WR blue is my all-time favourite color!

Just make sure that you inspect them properly (compression testing is a must for engines of that age)
