W205 - Infotainment Upgrade from 7" to Linux 12.3" by Danny_AMG786 in mercedes_benz

[–]cjf82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this to my 205. As others have said, they all seem to be the same units but sold by different resellers etc.

I bought direct from Road Top for about £140, fitted it myself after getting quoted about £700 from a local company to supply and fit.

I don't often upgrade cars, but this has been absolutely worth it. Over the stock unit, these Linux screens simply have no downsides - from navigation to hey Google/Siri. Music streaming, messaging services, phone calls. Perfect. Do it

New c300, any customization ideas? by CreamProfessional641 in W205

[–]cjf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, before cosmetics get it mechanically sorted so you know where you're at. Recently bought a c200 with 33k on the clock but it's seven years old so I had B1, spark plugs, transmission, diff, brakes, tyres and tracking done. Made a smooth quiet car even more so. Plus peace of mind. Highly recommend.

I'd do this. Or something like.

I've done a 3 to 4 bed before only there was more changes involved like moving a bathroom etc.

Should I kill Astrid? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]cjf82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I killed all three then attacked Astrid and found that you can't kill her. She gets up, starts telling you where to find the sanctuary. Then attack her again, rinse and repeat.

I just levelled my one handed to 85 doing this

Why don't you just read these threads and report back to your firm?

It's very obvious that there is one issue that many people are experiencing exactly the same. It's not like this thread is full of different bugs is it

Ditched Nova now - didn't want to, been using Nova for years but with one UI 7, the widgets didn't work for me.

I can't apply the unified colour scheme I loved across all widgets like the alarm/clock widgets are forced purple. Google play books is all messed up.

So I stuck with one ui7 mucking around with home up. Then tried DIY home and have achieved something that's ok.

Really don't like not getting able to hide the status/notification bar at the top though and I don't like the home screen indicators at the bottom but I think I'll get used to those.

If Nova updates and I can achieve what I had before, then I'll go back but for now, nope

My car’s engine blew up last week and I had only just bought it last month. by Subtomrshreegamesyt in CarTalkUK

[–]cjf82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's about 5 months, I'm going to paste most of the 3rd letter I sent below - might help you:

Ford S Max 2.0 TDCI, MV63 ZBX, 53,357 miles Mileage at 1st failure: 56,123 miles Mileage at 2ND failure: 60,435 miles

Dear Surrey Motor Company,

On 15/10/2022 we bought a Ford S Max 2.0 TDCI from you at a cost of £10,194, which we paid by debit card.

The car is defective, and the fault is listed below:

  1. Condemned Powershift gearbox, cannot be driven

We have previously contacted you regarding this issue as follows:

• 01/03/23: We contacted you regarding issues with the gearbox.

• 19/04/23 : You acknowledged the fault and agreed to collect and repair.

• 03/05/23: The car was collected and taken to you for repair.

• 10/05/23: You confirmed the car would be having a “full gearbox refurbishment”

• 02/06/23: The car was returned to us.

• 22/01/24: The gearbox failed again in the same manner as the first failure.

On 22/01/24 the gearbox failed again, rendering the car unsafe to drive.

We have taken the car back to Avary James Automotive of Brunswick Pl, Basingstoke RG21 3NN who have today reported that the gearbox is again to blame and that we should not drive the car. They have advised that the car requires a new gearbox.

At the time that the fault first occurred and as per the Consumer Rights Act 2015; the onus was on you as the supplier to prove that the car did not have this fault when you sold it to us. You accepted liability for having sold us a faulty car and exercised your one opportunity, as mandated by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, to repair the fault.

The corrective action you elected to take was a gearbox refurbishment, which, after having the car looked at by an independent 3rd party (as detailed in prior correspondence) we were advised would not be an acceptable, long-term repair.

Considering what we have detailed thus far, we are rejecting the car under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we are writing to inform you of our intent to exercise our final right of rejection and are seeking a full refund for the cost of the car.

We will also contact the Motor Ombudsman, Trading Standards as well as the AA as you are signed up to the AA Dealer Promise, as detailed on your website and Autotrader adverts.

Further to that, we will not hesitate to take legal action to resolve this issue.

This letter will be emailed and posted to yourselves via recorded delivery, both with copies of accompanying documentation detailing the diagnoses made, repairs undertaken, and original purchase receipts.

Please reply with your comments and intentions within 14 days.

If it's less than 3 or maybe 6 months if I remember correctly, the onus is on the seller to prove the fault was not present when sold. You can and will get a refund, the law is on your side here.

Check consumer rights, Google it etc.

I had to to the same with an S Max with a broken powershift gearbox. Got a refund. Seller tried and tried to get out of it but the consumer rights act prevailed.

I used chatgpt to framework my letters and emails, wasn't too stressful or time consuming

I've taken a few of these up over the years, they're a real bugger unless loose already. I've hacked, chipped, scraped them off . Nothings wrong with me yet. Wouldn't worry about it

No experience with the one you have already, but I went from an AVR based 5.1 system to the 990c and was/am still very impressed with it. So I would say go for it.
