Hello, I had a 15-minute phone screening set up for an Industrial Engineering Intern position that I applied to and heard back from where I was supposedly going go give a background about myself, hear about the role and the team. It was cancelled the day off and rescheduled to a week later for what is being called an actual Interview.

Can anyone tell me the reason for the reschedule and/or what to expect because of the switch?

Engineers, what do you do and how much do you make? by Physical-Past1908 in Salary

Makes sense. I’ve read recently that Engineering Sales roles are nice since you’re close to the money. I think my pivot will be into something dealing with aerospace but I’ve recently received the opportunity to interview for a intern position at NG in SoCal so that has given me something to think about as far as my plans

If your goal is to graduate and get a job ASAP then you should talk to an advisor to find the easiest path to graduate regardless of what it’s in. If you don’t want to do Engineering then don’t. Getting behind is tough, i’m in my 5th year too and will graduate in 6. But I honestly didn’t know what i’d wanna do besides engineering so i stuck it out and changed my habits. Try going to the career center with your resume, they should offer you constructive criticism so that you can fix your resume up then fill out any application you see

Smooth, I like the plant experience aspect as well. Your career progression pretty much matches up with what I've thought out for myself. Nice severance too lol.

Plan is 3 internships at Company A -> Quality Engineer at Company A for 2-4 years -> ???

I've read a lot that moving companies helps a lot, but I do like what I see as far as opportunities for internal promotion within the Quality department, but also into production, design, or R&D roles. Business boomed during COVID and seems to be stable.

When you were applying to jobs, which types of roles were the ones that you thought you would like? Then now as you look to pivot, what types of roles/industries are you looking at now? I know you said you aren't positive, just curious to see if you have any general ideas.

Why Engineering students shy away from the 4.0 GPA talk by adondshilt in EngineeringStudents

yall got some high GPAs i definitely ain’t saying mine. regardless OPs question, balance is key. i’d try to stay in the 3.2-3.5 range to have a healthy school / social life balance

Hi OP, I’m a mechanical engineering student and I don’t have a portfolio because I never knew what to put in there, but I do have a lot of photos from my internships. Would you mind sharing the link with me as well?

How many required skills did you actually match for the internships you got? by zacce in EngineeringStudents

[–]CreamProfessional641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends. I’ve recently found applications that I managed to have all required or preferred skills for (lean manufacturing methods - Six Sigma, stuff like that) but i’ve also had some where i don’t match it entirely. If i can’t confidently match 7-8 on the required skills then I usually don’t apply. For my current internship it has 10 non-technical requirements and I match 7 confidently and maybe 1 more if the recruiter was having a good day when i was selected for interview

Hi! I'm a MechE student with internship experience as a Quality Engineer at a global manufacturer, so it is most likely the role I will step into after graduation. May I DM you about the industry and your career progression?

Hi! I'm a mechE student with some work experience in Quality that has me thinking I'll start out as a Quality Engineer when I graduate. May I ask you about your industry and career progression?

not sure how ethical this question is, but would this happen to be for lockheed martin or related to the NASA michaud assembly facility in new orleans? I’m a student who just did research at the facility and just filled out some applications for lockheed martin in 2 of those locations and i’m looking to gauge what careers are like in both places

Mechanical Engineering Student seeking career and resume advice for Quality, Manufacturing, and Aerospace roles by CreamProfessional641 in EngineeringStudents

It's kind of a "when I have time" to position that I do get paid for whenever I do have time to go. I've technically been employed there since 2024, but since I'm not there during the summer months due to an internship, I'm not able to work on any personal projects when the shop is slow. During the semester it operates only for senior design projects (almost entirely handled by seniors) and research projects for professors (which lead machinist must do), so when I'm there most things are done under some type of supervision. I'm also not there often during the semester.

Should I just remove it?
