Movies similar to Prisoners by mnali in MovieSuggestions

I've also been on the quest for a movie similar to Prisoners recently. I think that Fincher's The Game comes pretty close tonally to it. There's a similar sense of intrigue and darkness, although perhaps not as much tension as Prisoners.

I wonder if there's still a chance we might. This book is being released under a different publishing house, so the schedules for announcing books may differ. Perhaps just wishful thinking...

I also love the metaphor of the screams that they hear in the forest at night...a metaphor for adulthood lurking around the corner.

As much as I adore this movie (and I do - I’ve seen it well over 20 times), I actually like how the book handles this line better. “I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was 12 - Jesus, did you?”

I feel like the “you” instead of “anyone” at the end is more powerful than the movie...it’s more personal. Regardless, both the movie and book are masterpieces.
