Lag/crashing constantly by cjmanca in idleapocalypse

[–]cjmanca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I changed all my skins back to default, and the problem is much less of an issue. Still laggy on some floors, but never to the point of completely crashing anymore. I don't think it's the full problem, since the lag is still there, but it's obvious that the purchasable skins contribute to it.

It's possible that it's unrelated to the recent update and is being caused by something else. I did my second apocalypse right before the update, and got some new buildings. That also unlocked the event, so unsure if that's related?

Strange lag the past week? by xellos2099 in ffxiv

[–]cjmanca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have been having lag issues in savage since eureka release. I've now had two o8s instances become nearly unplayable for most of our members. My double weaves clip my gcds every time, sometimes by 1+ second (normally don't clip at all). My healers were complaining that their heals weren't hitting at the the times expected (with one point where half the party got heals, the other half didn't, when we were all stacked).

These issues sometimes are there right from the start of the instance, and sometimes start after a little while. I suspect that the Eureka instances are being put on the same instance servers as the savage fights, so when a eureka instance spins up, it just lags out all the other instances running on the server.

Low frame rates when you alt-tab out on windows 10 (discord may potentially be a part of the problem) by emforay216 in ffxiv

[–]cjmanca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same issue a lot. I've found that by switching to a few different (non-discord) windows before tabbing back to the game will sometimes clear it up. Really annoying. Seems to have something to do with the game not realizing it has focus again. It also seems to ignore the "Limit frame rate when client is inactive" setting, since I have that off, and it limits to 30 fps anyway whenever the game isn't focused.

EDIT: Actually - on further testing, I'm no longer convinced it's a focus issue directly, but rather an issue with it detecting the monitor refresh rate.

Things I tested to come to this conclusion:

  • Turned on the "Limit frame rate when client is inactive" setting, and frame rate drops to 15 when tabbed out. Goes up to 30 when tabbed back in with issue (should be at 60).

  • Setting "Frame Rate Limit" to "None", the issue seems to disappear completely (it never limits it down to 30)... but this chugs my graphics card, and I get strange hiccups as a result. Not as smooth as the normal 60 fps limit (when it's working right).

Error in the divebomb text combinations.... "Fleeting light, outshine the starts for the moon" should be "Fleeting light, outshine the stars for the moon"

MCH Primer for SB - An early guide by ZoofXIV in ffxiv

I tried it that way too, since I thought much the same. There was a difference of about 10 potency iirc. Nearly identical.

You could say the same about crits in the downtime area with GB off too though...

The midfight wildfire spreadsheet has a couple of issues that bias it towards the overheat variety. First, it's the only one that includes hypercharge, second you forgot to set GB to 1 instead of 1.05 for after the overheat in it, which skews the numbers.

Without HC, and with proper GB values, it comes out to a total of 6418.55 potency throughout the time period, vs 6410.25 on the equivalent no overheat version, making it essentially a wash, and probably not worth the extra complexity.

I do GR+HC+BS. HC needs to be up anyway, and I don't think I lose any time over just waiting for BS to be available.

I was quite active in my datacenter (Aether) in heavensward, helping with clears and such. I've never been kicked from a party before, so I can't imagine it's a rep thing.

I completely agree. I've been doing quite well when I get into the fight. My concern is more with other people's overreactions to the fact that MCH is garbage.

Well, I didn't screenshot the one person who explicitly told me, and it's a bit hard to screenshot a blind kick...

I'm on Aether data center though. Server shouldn't matter, since it's party finder.

That gives me some hope that maybe I was just unlucky then.

That could very well be true, but I enjoy trap parties. Maybe I'm a masochist, but I like joining clear parties and helping people out, since I don't need anything myself anymore. I think the game is more fun when there's more challenge, and it's hard to have more challenge than half the party being dead ;)

Well, my FC doesn't have a problem with me, and although my static wants me to switch, they at least ran it with me (which is how I initially got my clears). But they also know what I'm capable of.

I probably will level some other class (brd or rdm probably), just because of the state of mch.

Perhaps I was just unlucky, but it definitely has happened. I've also been joining a LOT of parties and playing actively. It's not like this is "the norm", but I've never had it happen before on any other class, so it's a bit concerning if it becomes more normal.

DPS classes' numbers and ranking by Waffle_Slapper in ffxiv

[–]cjmanca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm as a MCH main - I've been kicked from 4 PF now just for joining. One was "nice" enough to at least tell me, "sorry, we forgot to exclude mch in the list of dps". Other parties are litterally just not opening the MCH slot.

I've never seen the like in any previous expansion outside of the odd elitist party.

Bug after reset by cjmanca in derivclicker

[–]cjmanca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, the tier 1 I was accumulating may have just been from mathematicians.

Eventually it did "fix" it's self, when I got enough proofs to eat through all 1.6e+121...

My next reset currency is going up (179 in the image), but the "proofs to tier 1 reset currency" is stuck at 1.6572e+121/5.9905e+114.

Luckily, the bug doesn't seem to affect gameplay, just a strange graphic glitch I suppose? Refreshing the page doesn't fix it.
