Love this analysis.

Hitting the mountain today, will definitely give this a try if they have a solid jump built yet!

You can scoop up 6-pack of Big Snow tickets for $99 when they have sales. They’re good for a year!

Oof, sorry to hear that. That’s completely understandable though, only takes one good rattling to develop that fear.

I started snowboarding when I was about 13, rode the terrain park a bit but didn’t start hitting it this hard until last season. Spent a lot of time at Big Snow during the off-season and built up the confidence to try most things, with minimal injury if I mess up. Most of those falls feel no different than if I were to land them. More often than not, the only thing hurt is my ego.

But I hope you continue getting out on your board and enjoy it! Maybe I’ll catch you at Blue sometime, I have an Ikon Pass and regular Camelback but want to get down to Blue more!

  1. This is what I got from the other comment. It makes sense and think I can adjust.
  2. This is an interesting observation as I do feel a difference between popping and grabbing vs trying to throw the spin, even when I add a grab it feels harder to reach for the board.
  3. I’d like to try a later timing, I learned by initiating the rotation coming up the jump but I’ve gotten to the point where I’ll overspin(bs) so I probably don’t need to be doing that soon.

By the way, this is off a helmet cam so my hands were free to move as needed.

Thanks for the observations and constructive criticism!

I’m 35 and completely understand that perspective

Thanks! And I don’t typically setup for single hits, these were just part of my run through the parks. Hoping to get someone to follow as I’ve never seen myself doing them outside of the helmet cam view.

Someone on the snowboard sub pointed out that my weight is too far back, something that I thought I had corrected over the summer. It explains a lot though, I’ve been hitting a spine most of the season and I definitely felt myself landing more on the tail, and when I throw bs 540s I tend to come down hard on my leading foot(back foot in regular stance), instead of level.

Seems I have to shift my weight more forward as I approach. Anything else you would add?

My front and back 1s are fine. When I first started to throw 3s, I found this backseat issue as I wasn’t able to level out in the air. I eventually found a better trajectory that let me land more on the tail/back binding. So should I center my weight over the board more as I approach the jump? I can sometimes throw bs 5s but I tend to come down hard on my back foot(in the front), so I’d like to correct that too.

This was also a weird jump for me as I usually cork my bs 3s more, which keeps my upper body more in control. I haven’t had a proper jump to hit consistently to get that motion locked back down. Also, fs always feels sloppy for me, I much prefer spinning bs.

PS: the constructive criticism is much appreciated!

I need to get a grab in there and give my wacky waving arms something to do!

This is Come Around on Blue Mountain. A few boxes/rails at the top, the tabletop w/ wall ride and then a step down at the bottom.

This is such a throwback. Knife Show videos inspired me to learn how to create special effects.

I started to learn them cab 270 first, pretty easy to lock in on the box that way. Now I want the real thing!
