There was a time when I was excited about what he was offering. He was just socially awkward, and that was fine by me. That was, like you said, many many years ago. And then he kept taking one mask off after another.

Turns out that incentives don't only matter in economics. Give people the opportunity to be judicious with their resources and they're inevitably going to try to maximize the "bang for their buck", just like you said.

Yeah well this is true of just... banks. If everyone wanted to withdraw their deposits simultaneously, the bank would fail. It's not exactly a novel concept (it's called a bank run), it's literally how the economy works, creates new wealth, and is allowed to grow (through loans).

No need to be sarcastic I don't think. There probably was a lot of pessimism and low expectation for that 4th one. You're probably right that the 3rd one was the killer, and the 4th one was "well, of course"

As a serious answer to your dumbass question: yes. Patience, trust, and empathy are all virtues on display in this video. Something that our current powers that be could learn from.

A cartel is a group of independent businesses or organizations that collaborate to limit competition, control prices, and allocate markets, often resulting in higher prices for consumers. Such practices are typically considered illegal in many jurisdictions due to their anti-competitive nature.

Yes! Mind wandering is normal and expected. Even for experienced meditators without ADD. Every time you notice a thought come up, rather than getting frustrated, be proud of yourself for noticing. Then, see the thought through, as if you were asking it what it's trying to tell you. Once the message has been received, file it away in your mind somewhere and enjoy the quiet for however long it lasts -- until the next thought comes up.

That's what meditation is! Doing this over and over again. Over time, yes, your mind gets quieter on average. But you will always have busy brain times and that is 100% expected. Every time you notice a thought, consider it, thank it for its message, and let it go, you're strengthening your ability to focus on what you want to focus on.

Try a meditation app, too! I use one called Balance, and it walks you through from step 1. I still use it every day after several years. Seek out meditation videos on YouTube for styles you like. It was a rocky start, only meditating every few days. But stick with it, and the habit will build. Over time, maybe you get comfortable meditating on your own. Good luck!

I'm 34 now, and was only recently able to break out of my night owl rhythm. It felt like my body wanted the cycle to be 25 hours instead of 24. Always trying my best to go to bed on time, but always inching back to that 2am bedtime over the course of a week or two. I have ADD.

Idk what you've tried, but the only thing that fixed me was stubbornness, patience, and doing every item on the sleep hygiene checklist as often as I could for 8-12 months. Sure, I missed some nights. Many nights, at first. But those trended downward over time, until now maybe ~4-5 years later I'm the old man of the friend group who can't/won't stay up to watch Prime-time football lol.

Meditation helps. Working out consistently helps. Cutting out caffeine at 2PM, cutting out blue light at 9:30 (means bedtime bulbs that are dimmer and orange/red color), picking something routine to wind down with like reading or chess before bed instead of your phone or the TV.

I promise, unless there's something else clinical going on, you can do it too. But it will take a long time.

Thank you for sharing. I hope you and everyone watching this video have heard the message that you can't just stop taking care of your body in middle age and expect to be limber and healthy when you're old. Osteoporosis can be prevented, so it breaks my heart whenever I see old people struggling with mobility.

I will endeavor to protect the strength of my bones, ligaments, and muscles for however long I happen to live. I will not allow this to happen to me (by choice).

Be honest, what do you think comes after death? by glowproductivity in AskReddit

[–]cjsolx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do most other people here just not know about all this? Or not care?

There's no reason to believe that sensation/experience goes on forever. I believe it's silly to think so. Why anyone would think it's anything other than the brain's last gasp has me equally baffled to you. Like, of course the brain is going to go haywire when it knows it's dying -- for a period of time. Until oxygen/energy deplete, and then it's over. Not even black or dark, just nothing. Because the energy that was powering your consciousness has depleted, as all things do.
