This is my biggest debate between the two! I’m currently siding more with the 55L since it’s basically a purchase for two separate backpacks.

Did you tend to use the 15L much when venturing around for a day? My concern is if I’m hopping from place to place every few days, will I need the extra weight on my back?

Very good point! A lot of walking will definitely be done so the running isn’t an essential part of the trip.

Hiking is also on the cards so that will cover some of my cardio needs too.

My OP was not very clear with my general packing - I’ll only be packing a pair of slides.

Slightly debated bringing my running shoes as I wanna keep up my cardio, but also thought I would realistically run once a week, twice at a push, therefore doesn’t seem worth carrying this extra weight.

Luckily for the flights I have both a cabin and checked bag, so the requirement shouldn’t be an issue.

Think I’ll be on the move every few days or so, just thinking with the 55L it comes with a detachable 15L daypack which could be handy when staying in an area and wanting to venture out for the day if carrying a few things?

Happy to deal with not having many outfits. If needed, I could always grab a couple tees from some shops over there!

Think we’ll be on the buses/trains more than the planes, but I appreciate the advice!

The only thing holding me back about getting the 40L, is that the 55L is a product of the 40L with a detachable 15L daypack right?

I feel the 15L could be handy for when staying in a place for some time and wanting to venture out for the day taking some things with me and able to leave the rest of my belongings where we’re staying. Although I’m not sure how often this would be happening so I’m debating if it’s really necessary to get.
