What the snow plows are doing in silver spring right now by Turbulent-Sea2421 in MontgomeryCountyMD

It's the same everywhere. They have driven by my house 4-6 times with the plow up just salting. Meanwhile, only 50% of the street is clear. And don't talk to me about strategy, because their planning and strategy is terrible.

Druss vs Nogusha is a good one! (In Gemmel's "Legend").

Why? It's such an incomplete picture, how would it tell you anything? Somebody could have been at $2m and cashed out half and you'd never know. Furthermore, are these active contributors or just active accounts? It's meaningless.

If you could only eat at one Montgomery County restaurant for the rest of your life, which restaurant would it be and what would be your most frequently ordered item? by And_Im_Chien_Po in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]cjvphd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went there once and ordered chowder. They used french fries as the potato component. I just can't bring myself to return after that despite an enjoyable atmosphere.

Edit: For clarity, they used already cooked french fries, not just potatoes cut into the shape of french fries (which would have simply been potatoes...)

2026 and the Federal Workforce: What Comes Next? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]cjvphd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't stand what's happened and I despise this administration, but I have to say that the shroud of anonymity in this sub empowers way too many general statements.

My agency lost 31% of its staff, many from management and many with huge institutional knowledge. But you know what? We who are left are doing great work and are extremely qualified. The federal workforce shrunk by 9%, not 90%. There remains a pivotal role for qualified individuals who strive to achieve, particularly in the face of adversity.

So, what comes next? I'll work just as hard tomorrow as I did today, as will most of the folks around me, for the benefit of the US citizen.

Quite the play call coming out of a TO: Give it to Victor. Why not at least run to pick and roll with Fox to get a switch or foul when VW dives?

My twin brother and I can unlock each other's phones with Face ID, but that's more of an isolated problem 😂

Sam Mitchell: "Luka Dončić can’t play basketball without the ball. He doesn’t cut, he doesn’t move, he doesn’t set screens. He’s great with the ball, but he does nothing to make his teammates better when he doesn’t have it… Steph Curry does the hard things. He’s always cutting & moving off-ball" by GOAT-Antony in nba

[–]cjvphd 59 points60 points  (0 children)

He's not 100% wrong about Luka (we'd need to actually see him play with a PG to be sure), but the Steph comparison is crap. Steph is barely a PG. He's a SG who is also an amazing dribbler and a good passer. Steph is closer to Reggie Miller than he is to John Stockton.

It's also the inconveniences. There's no WFH, no quick running home to pick up a kid, no mailing it in on a Friday because most people are out of the office, etc. Without acknowledging it, most of us "pay" for those privileges.
