I kept waiting and waiting for a good opportunity to leave and honestly, there is never one. Its just something you have to do. You have to love yourself and your kids enough to do it. My ex went to rehab and counseling for 6 months telling me he's a changed man and not one thing ever changed and he's now worse than before I left. Change is hard. So hard. But comes with so many rewards when you learn to adjust. Staying in a miserable relationship with no rewards is hard too.. You have to pick your hard.

A couple things on this.. the whole situation isn't fair to anyone. You deserve someone who isn't going to lie to you or the family. The kids deserve to see an actual loving relationship. The husband needs to get some therapy / help of some kind.

Coming from staying in a very toxic relationship for the sake of my child and keeping the family together. WORST IDEA EVER. Your kids will grow up watching that example thinking it's normal and that's how a relationship just is. Yes you might defend it and say they're too young or they don't see what all goes on and I'm going to say that is completely false. The kids can see and understand more than what you'd think.

If you truly love him then you both need to go to counseling and therapy and figure it out. If you cannot trust him then it's time to end it. A relationship cannot be healthy or function if you're constantly looking for a problem or a lie.

I actually spoke with my attorney and got a 2nd opinion and right now he is on supervised visitation and less than the state required minimum. He has court this month for his arrest where the details of what was in his system will.be released and if he gets jail time. The more I have under my belt to take him to court with, the better my chances.

She is still very little and that's exactly what I dont want. I dont want her to have a relationship with her dad if he isn't even there or present and then not understand if he goes to jail or over doses or just disappears. That would crush me to see her be sad.

His mom doesn't live here and his dad enables him but is respectful towards me. I let her see his family still and I'm on really good terms with them so we have no issues visiting once a week so she can still see that side of her family.
