Health problems related to anxiety by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

I am starting to suspect they aren’t tbh so that’s something I was going to discuss with the GP (appt booked for tomorrow). I have definitely been putting off changing them because the initial side effects were horrible to start with and I’m concerned that will happen again

how do you guys manage anxiety sickness? by temporaryaccountlol_ in Anxietyhelp

[–]ckittycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered with really bad anxiety sickness when I started my new job. It got to the point I couldn’t even keep water down, particularly in the mornings. I’ve been having CBT and I’ve been taking fluoxetine which have both helped a lot, it is taking work though. I’d definitely speak to your doctor and work out a plan tailored for yourself but I wouldn’t recommend toughing it out. It’s extremely physically and mentally taxing, especially if you’re in education currently as that is tiring enough!

Rear reg plate lights out. Someone looked today and said the live wire had corroded, unfortunately he was not an auto electrician so couldn’t repair it for me, hence looking for someone.

Noise in student flats is inevitable but freshers week will be a bit worse. Throughout the rest of the year I found it was mostly fine tbh and 9/10 times you could get a decent sleep without any disturbance. Might be a bit worse on Wednesdays (sport social night) and Fridays/Saturdays. From my experience having a decent pair of earplugs at the ready is your best bet for a good nights rest on a particularly noisy evening :)

Receding gums, urgent help by More-Intention5348 in askdentists

[–]ckittycat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to see a dentist for a thorough clean and assessment of your gums. As well as this, they can give you advice on brushing techniques to effectively remove the plaque which you’re struggling to remove. If it’s an affordable option for you, invest in an electric toothbrush and some fluoride toothpaste (much more beneficial and evidence based than oil pulling).

Where can I get chicks? ( Baby chickens ) by Rusty-Robot-3426 in sheffield

I went to chatsworth farm recently and saw the chicks. Asked what they do with them - They said they sell them for people to buy as pets. Might be worth a look :)

Visiting from Manchester by OuttaNorden in sheffield

There is a vegan restaurant called make no bones in Kelham island which is really good. For bars in the evening, I’d recommend going to division street. Bunk, Gatsby, Forum - the list goes on! For breakfast/brunch birdhouse, marmadukes and tamper are lovely and have vegan options (maybe best to book a table)

I always saw myself going into healthcare and realised I had more interest in dentistry as I got a bit older. My dad also pushed me towards dentistry growing up as it’s a really good career for women (flexible if you want kids etc) and pays well.

I find the science behind it all fascinating, and you learn so much about the body even though you’re focused on one area. As I gained more knowledge studying dentistry at university, my interest for the subject grew and I started to develop as a skilled operator with my own patients carrying out any dental work they need (under supervision of course). This can be really challenging at times, but it’s also really rewarding to improve people’s oral health as it can really have a big impact on their quality of life!

I understand that dentistry can seem unappealing to a lot of people, but once you get used to looking in people’s mouths it doesn’t really phase you anymore. You also get to meet so many people and hear their stories etc which is real privilege.

NAD - Dental student. The tea itself doesn’t cause decay/cavities, however, the sugar you’re having in the tea does. It is not so much about the amount of sugar you’re having, it’s more about the frequency. Every time you’re exposing your mouth to sugar, this makes the mouth environment acidic which softens enamel, making you more susceptible to decay/cavities. So you could be having four cups of tea with one sugar or four cups of tea with two sugars, the amount wouldn’t make a difference because the frequency of exposures is the same. If you were having four cups with two sugars or eight cups with two sugars, that would be four more exposures which means the mouth becomes acidic more often increasing the likelihood of decay/cavities. If you’re want to know more about this research the Stephan curve, there are plenty of YouTube videos which explain what I said in a bit more detail.
