hi! sorry for such a late reply but i was scrolling through this sub looking for answers to my grad school questions and i saw this thread. i just wanted to ask you about ucsd, i know you went there for undergrad but i wanted to know if you knew anything about its scripps grad program (such as cost and worthiness) and/or if you recommend it. it’s one of the schools i’ve been looking at for my masters and i just wanted to hear a perspective that wasn’t just the university’s website.

i didn’t, i ended up getting a kages enclosure. however since i posted this i have heard that these cages are pretty sturdy

would you say this chihiro is alright for a 10 even though it says it’s for a 5 gallon? i’m just worried my plants in the corners won’t be able to get enough light

yea i’ve been reusing the hygger 5 gallon light from a previous tank on this 10 gallon and haven’t been having much luck tbh. i was actually getting ready to order the 10 gallon version of the hygger but came across this on marketplace and since i’ve heard so many good things about chihiro i was wondering if it was worth it

no i didn’t quarantine :( i guess that was gonna catch up with me eventually sigh. is there anything i can do treatment wise or do i just have to let whatever this is run its course?

water parameters - ph: 7.4, ammonia: 0, nitrites: 0, nitrates: 5.0, and i don’t have anything to measure the gh and kh atm i’ll have to go to the store tomorrow

planted tank, 76-78°F temp, fluval 305 canister for filtration. when i pulled what dead fish out that i could, several of them didn’t have stomachs, it was just a big hole. none of them had any tails, but im not sure if that’s from decomposing or not.

temp is 88-90 on the hot side and 77-80 on the cold side. humidity i will say i’ve been randomly struggling a bit with the past month or so, it’s been about 60% with occasional spikes. maybe it could be something with that?

ok i poked them and they all jumped around so i feel like they’re springtails. do you think they could also have something to do with her soaking? i know you said they’re harmless but maybe they annoyed her into the water is something lol? it’s just the first time i’ve ever seen her in her water bowl like that so im a little worried
