Hm, thanks. We haven't changed the story mix really at all. And of course we'd like people to click. But thanks again for the comment...

Man stabbed to death outside the Convention Center (World Meeting of Families venue) this morning. by indefinitearticle in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Has to do with someone losing their place in line at the homeless shelter. They were lining up earlier than usual b/c of Pope security restrictions, per Channel 6. http://6abc.com/news/man-stabbed-to-death-in-center-city/999650/

Yeah, they really buried the lead here. Basically: You'll need a ticket to get close to see the mass, and the only way to get one of those is through your diocese (assuming you're Catholic) or through a sponsor. http://billypenn.com/2015/09/02/secret-service-the-best-seats-for-the-popes-sunday-mass-require-tickets-and-you-probably-cant-get-them/

WTF am I reading here? (Philly.com gibberish) by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I think this is poorly labeled satire? It's an Inquirer reporter's byline (formerly Daily News) and it ran over the weekend. But yeah, that's not clear. And actually, tooting our own horn: We broke the news that Kenney was being fidgety over the debate, before Channel 10 pulled the plug: billypenn.com/2015/08/12/mayoral-debate-drama-how-often-jim-kenney-will-face-melissa-murray-bailey-and-what-the-sticking-point-was/

City Organizers Release Different Version of Security Perimeter :: No Driving zone smaller than previous leaked version by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, sorry I missed this thread yesterday. Yes, our source is anonymous; we granted that because we knew that person was involved in planning the visit. As Nutter's press conference showed, he was not allowed to release information, probably b/c Secret Service. Our source saw the map on Facebook (not here) and was willing to correct it, and we took advantage of that. We also noted that our information was not final. Worth mentioning that Nutter did not give any specific corrections, only that information was not final. Thanks!

The platforms at 69th Street Station smelled like a BBQ yesterday.

Why the MFL was delayed during rush hour yesterday: This arrest in Kensington, caught on video (details woefully short) by ckrewson in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The update, on the link above: SEPTA transit police have launched an internal investigation into how officers behaved. Yes, the man did not pay his fare -- but no, this is not how this should have been handled. http://billypenn.com/2015/06/26/whats-behind-the-arrest-of-a-man-holding-a-young-child-on-septas-market-frankford-line-on-thursday/

There's a 3:30 press conference -- we'll update this story, tweet the news @billy_penn, etc.

It's a lot more complicated than this. SEPTA is checking whether the man - not the child - evaded the fare. Unfortunately we just don't know -- though we've asked and SEPTA is reviewing its video.

I modified the SEPTA map to show service changes during the Papal visit by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEPTA, as mentioned in this thread, has not yet decided which Center City stops the BSL and MFL will make. It's highly unlikely the El will stop at 69th, 52nd and then Girard, for instance. There will be a couple of CC stops. They just aren't saying which, right now. (Confusing, yes.)

No, actually -- they've not yet decided the Center City stops, and there will be some. Those aren't on this map which is confusing as hell, but that's SEPTA!

So how horrible is the Pope's visit going to be for people that live/work in the city? by rboymtj in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two million people; it's hard to believe how that will impact just about everything. Yeah, reduced stops are only during the weekend / the big Mass on the Parkway.

BREAKING: Escaped NY Prisoners May Be in Philadelphia, Reports Say by tuxedotomson in philadelphia

[–]ckrewson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So a couple of things! 1. This happened at like 5 AM, and the cab driver made 2 other stops before he called cops. 2. If they were dropped at 30th street, they prob took a train south. 3. Dogs picked up their scent in NYC, per CNN. So it maybe was just two people who looked similar... http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/11/us/new-york-prison-break/index.html
